Matthew Lannes is a 2017 OF/ with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Leesburg, VA who attends Heritage. Medium frame with solid, athletic present build and good room on body to continue filling out moving forward. Hits with longer stride into contact, hands set medium height and close to body, shows solid hand speed and does good job throwing hands at the ball and generating bat speed. Extends well through contact, needs to shift weight into contact better, line drive swing plane with solid overall contact ability. Opposite-field approach, has ability to use all fields. Worked out defensively both in IF and OF. Shows solid fielding actions in the IF with good hands, fields cleanly and shows balance in crow hop, good release with consistent accuracy. Moves well to the ball in the OF, shows ability to field cleanly off to the side and work through, OF velocity up to 72 MPH. Good student.
