Casey "CJ" Shapiro is a 2017 OF/ with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Hermosa Beach, CA who attends Mira Costa. Medium, athletic frame with slender present build and good projection remaining on body. Ran very well, posting a 6.75 seconds 60 yard dash time. Hits from balanced start, some stiffness in stance but shows some fluidity in swing. Toe tap trigger, simple overall mechanics with contact-driven approach. Very short, very quick swing to and through the zone, generates some bat speed, line drive swing plane. Worked out defensively in the outfield. Attacks the ball aggressively when fielding, stops momentum a bit to field but regains it through release. Has quick twitch athleticism in actions. Long, extended arm action to online throws, OF velocity topped at 82 MPH. Very good student.
