Carlos Santangelo is a 2019 RHP/3B, OF with a 6-1 155 lb. frame from Ellisville, MO who attends Chaminade College Prep. Medium frame with long limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Ran a 7.08 sixty-yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a smooth paced, small rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at balance and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands in line with the plate and carries momentum to target well. Medium arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball showed good downhill plane to the plate with some run to arm side in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Flashed good feel for fastball and consistently worked down in the zone and to each edge of the plate. Curveball had 11/5 shape with good spin and some depth in the upper 60's. Consistently repeated arm action while on the mound showed mature poise through each inning of work. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing aggressive footwork while traveling to the baseball. Funnels baseball from a slightly deeper position and worked through exchange with fluidity. Released from a three-quarters slot producing softer, accurate carry to the bag topping at 72 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and large leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Simple hand path to baseball with a naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Stays balanced throughout and flashed good feel for the barrel. Primarily utilized a mid field, line drive approach and consistently barreled baseball throughout batting practice. Very good student as well.
