2016 Top Prospects

Herbert Iser  C - 2016 - Miami, FL
Dallas Baptist/San Jacinto CC

Iser is one of the top prospects in the 2016 class and is well known nationally. While he has huge left handed power, no scout will overlook his high level defensive tools behind the plate, including perhaps the best throwing arm in the class.

Xzavion Curry  RHP - 2016 - Atlanta, GA
Georgia Tech

Curry is one of the most tooled up players in the 2016 class, with top of the charts arm strength at multiple positions, solid running speed and a powerful right handed bat. He was even up to 88 mph off the mound.

Max Guzman  C - 2016 - Miami, FL
Florida International/Chipola College

Guzman is an outstanding hitting prospect with strength and power to all fields. We also found from talking to him that he has a very cerebral and advanced mental approach to hitting to a degree rarely found in teenagers.

Carlos A Cortes  C - 2016 - Oviedo, FL
South Carolina

There aren't many players who evaluators simply say "He can just flat out hit" but Cortes is one of them. His very unusual ability to throw equally well with both arms might not be usable at the next level but it is an interesting testament to his athleticism.

Daniel Seres  C - 2016 - Canton, GA
Kennesaw State

Seres was one of the most talented, and significantly, most confident hitters we evaluated at the event. He has big right handed bat speed and a polished and simple approach at the plate that will translate well to the next level, especially for a catcher.

Trace Bucey  OF - 2016 - Corpus Christi, TX
Texas

Bucey has a notable combination of strength, projection and present quick twitch athleticism. He could move into five-tool territory with some refinement and adjustments to his left handed swing.

Ashton McGee  MIF - 2016 - Goldsboro, NC
North Carolina

McGee is a very strong sophomore at 6-0/195 with fast hands and lots of pull power from the left side of the plate. He's also a sub-7.0 runner in the sixty and has solid arm strength.

Zachary Strickland  RHP - 2016 - Waycross, GA
Georgia Southern

Strickland was one of the best pitching prospects at the event, with an upper-80's fastball and a power breaking ball. The 6-2/185 junior is committed to Georgia Southern.

Andrew Yerzy  C - 2016 - Toronto, ON CAN
Notre Dame

Yerzy jumps out with his 6-3/208 build and his huge strength from the left side of the plate, although his swing is notably calm for the power and bat speed he produces. He'll be one of the top Canadian prospects in the 2016 class.

Johnathan Jahn  LHP - 2016 - Augusta, GA
Ohio State

Last time we saw Jahn throw he was in the low to mid 80's and struggled to throw strikes. He's made some big adjustments since then and jumped up to 90 mph with a power slider and showed much better mechanics. That's a significant jump!

J.C. Flowers  RHP - 2016 - Orange Park, FL
Florida State

Flowers is an impressive overall athlete and at 6-2/170 he should keep getting stronger and better. He ran a 6.8, threw 90 mph from the outfield and 88 mph from the mound and showed lots of bat speed at the plate.

Cole Jackson  C - 2016 - Tyrone, GA
Georgia State

Jackson is extra strong at 6-2/215 and it is no surprise that his game is built around strength. He has a long and loose right handed swing that produces big power and one of the strongest throwing arms at the event behind the plate.

Livingston Morris  OF - 2016 - Dacula, GA
GGC

Morris caught one's eye physically as much as any player at the event with his 6-4/215 build but he also had across the board athleticism. He ran 6.9 even at that size, threw 90 mph from the outfield and showed big bat speed and power potential.

Arnaldo Brito  OF - 2016 - Hialeah, FL
Savannah State

Brito's big right handed power potential was obvious during both batting practice, where he made the Green Monster home to a couple of bombs, and also in games, where he added a real home run.

Cole Evans  OF - 2016 - Columbia, MO
Missouri

Evans is an impressive physical presence at 6-3/225 and is athletic enough to run a 6.69 in the sixty even at that size. His best tool, though, was his right handed bat speed and ability to drive the ball hard.

Jack Khawly  3B - 2016 - Southwest Ranches, FL
Miami

Khawly showed an outstanding swing balance between hitting for power and staying short and direct to the ball for high contact results. He was also solid defensively at third base and ran well for his size and strength.

Javier Valdes  SS - 2016 - Miami, FL
Florida International

A Miami commit, Valdes packs huge raw bat speed into his 5-11/185 frame and has easy plus power at the plate. He is also a two-way prospect who was up to 88 mph on the mound with very good fastball life.

Chris Bashlor  C - 2016 - Savannah, GA
Lipscomb

Bashlor is a big and strong catcher with a mature body and mature baseball skills. He has big right handed power at the plate and is polished in all his defensive actions.

Carson Ragsdale  RHP - 2016 - Wesley Chapel, FL
South Florida

Ragsdale stands out to the eye at 6-7/200 and has the athletic talent to go with it, including 6.9 speed in the sixty. He was up to 86 mph from the mound with an easy release and plenty of pitchability.

Jeffrey Fripp II  1B - 2016 - Orange Park, FL
Lander

The state of Florida always seems to have some oversized first baseman who can flat rake, going back to names like Prince Fielder, Rock Shoulders and Dan Vogelbach to name a few. The 6-2/240 Fripp looks like a candidate to join that club.

Tyler Musselwhite  MIF - 2016 - Lumberton, NC
Winthrop

Musselwhite is a bundle of energy on the field and has lots more strength than his 5-10/155 build would indicate, especially in the bat speed he creates.

Cory Campbell  OF - 2016 - Cumming, GA
Air Force

Campbell is a multi-tooled player who stands out both offensively and defensively and even threw in the mid-80's off the mound from the left side. He got particularly high marks from the PG scouts for his baseball IQ and approach to the game.

Lael Lockhart Jr.  1B - 2016 - Friendswood, TX
University of Houston

Lockhart is a versatile and projectable player who does everything well on the field. He's a switch-hitter with equal ability from either side, a very polished and athletic first baseman on defense and a mid-80's southpaw off the mound.

Brooks Aristy  C - 2016 - Loxahatchee, FL
St. Petersburg College

Catchers tend to be strong and fairly mature athletes, even at this age, but Aristy is lean, quick and highly projectable in all regards. He's going to keep getting better and he's already pretty good right now.

Alex Carballo  OF - 2016 - Pembroke Pines, FL
Kennesaw State/Broward CC

Carballo showed big left handed bat speed and the ability to create back spin and carry for future power. He's also a very good athlete with 6.9 speed and a solid outfield throwing arm.

Blake Durrence  RHP - 2016 - Glennville, GA
Abraham Baldwin College

Durrence filled up the strike zone with three solid pitches thrown from a compact arm action that hides the ball well. He topped out at 88 mph on his fastball to go with a 74 mph curveball and 77 mph changeup.

Zac Fascia  C - 2016 - Brampton, ON CAN
Purdue/Indian Hills CC

Fascia has a prototypical catcher's build at 6-1/200 and has well rounded defensive skills and tools. Along with being a left handed hitter with quick hands at the plate, the young Canadian also was up to 88 mph on the mound.

Cade Fulton  RHP - 2016 - Oklahoma City, OK
Eastern Oklahoma State College

Fulton has an extremely projectable 6-5/180 pitcher's build and a loose arm that produced fastballs up to 84 mph. He's a very good athlete and will definitely be improving as he gets stronger.

Ricardo Gonzalez  SS - 2016 - Boca Raton, FL
Palm Beach State

Gonzalez is a projectable young shortstop with lots of projection and some nice present tools as well, including 6.8 speed and a quick right handed swing. He also showed promise as a two-way prospect off the mound.

Matthew Rubayo  OF - 2016 - Skillman, NJ
Marist

Rubayo is yet another top prospect from the event who is a two-way talent. He's a big 6-4/215 athlete who runs very well for his size and hits with a power swing but he was also up to 88 mph on the mound.

Brandon Madero  SS - 2016 - Orlando, FL
St. Petersburg College

Madero is a bit undersized at 5-8/155 but stands out for his overall quickness and athleticism. He ran a 6.6, stood out on defense in the middle infield and showed a quick right handed line drive swing.

Garrett Hodges  OF - 2016 - Guyton, GA
Kennesaw State

A Kennesaw State commit, Hodges has a short but powerful left handed swing that played very well in the games. He's also an athletic outfielder with a strong throwing arm.

Daniel Rivero  RHP - 2016 - Davie, FL
Miami

Rivero is still listed as a primary first baseman, and while he has a strong right handed swing, we've suspected he projects better long-term as a right handed pitcher. That case seems to be building, as he topped out at 88 mph with very good life and command down in the zone.

Michael (Mike) Falcon  RHP - 2016 - Tampa, FL
Stevens Institute of Technology

Falcon has a fast and loose right arm that produced a steady mid-80's fastball and a sharp curveball. He's also a high level athlete who shows ability as a two-way prospect in the outfield.

James Harness  RHP - 2016 - Huber Heights, OH
Eastern Michigan

Harness is a big, physical right hander who is developing some power stuff on the mound. He topped out at 88 mph with a power curveball and developing changeup while striking out 7 hitters in 4 innings.

Jaquez Williams  1B - 2016 - Newnan, GA
Georgia State

Williams is every bit of his 6-4/235 list size but he's a good athlete and has agile actions. His big tool, not surprisingly, is his power and bat speed and the ball comes off the barrel very loudly when he squares it up.

Kea'von Edwards  SS - 2016 - Oklahoma City, OK
Coastal Carolina

Edwards was at the National Underclass West last month in Arizona and was better this week in Florida, especially with his swing approach at the plate which was smoother and more balanced. He's a solid all around athlete who can play many positions.

Brady Stover  LHP - 2016 - Huxley, IA
South Dakota State

Stover is a loose armed lefty from Iowa who showed three solid pitches, including a fastball that topped out at 86 mph, plus a feel for pitching. He's going to keep getting better as he gets stronger.

Koby Hott  OF - 2016 - Wichita Falls, TX
Hill College

A Texas native, Hott is a well rounded athlete with 6.9 speed. His bat and power potential from the right side stood out in the games.

Bryce Couch  OF - 2016 - Hamilton, OH
Uncommitted

Couch is a R/L player who gets lots of bat speed from his 6-0/188 build and has surprising pull power with the backspin he puts on the ball. He's a good athlete in the outfield with 7.1 speed and a strong throwing arm.

Josh Hollifield  SS - 2016 - Weddington, NC
VMI

Hollifield has a prototypical big and strong third baseman's build at 6-3/195. He has a strong fundamental swing that is short for his size and power the ball to the middle of the field.

Akil Baddoo  OF - 2016 - Conyers, GA
Kentucky

Baddoo showed a calm and balanced approach from the left side with good bat speed and some ability to turn and lift balls. He's also a solid defensive outfielder with 6.8 speed.

Terence Norman  OF - 2016 - Marietta, GA
Kennesaw State

Norman has a very projectable 6-3/190 build and lots of present tools. He runs a 6.8 sixty and stood out for his loose and powerful right handed swing.

Fabra has a loose and projectable 6-1/170 build and lots of quick twitch athletic actions. He ran a 6.8 sixty and showed lots of whippy right handed bat speed at the plate.

William Gilbert  RHP - 2016 - Plano, TX
Baylor

Gilbert has a power pitcher's build at 6-5/210 and throws a heavy 85 mph fastball that will keep gaining velocity. He also threw a slider and a change up and showed lots of feel for pitching.

Spencer Taylor  OF - 2016 - Sorrento, FL
Uncommitted

Taylor had one of the best and most repeatable swings at the event and consistently drove the ball hard from the right side. He's going to be a high average hitter against good pitching.

Cody Carroll  RHP - 2016 - Mount Dora, FL
University of Southern Mississippi

Carroll has the enviable combination of a 6-4/175 pound projectable build and very smooth and easy pitching mechanics. He struck out nine hitters in his appearance, using a mid-80's fastball and a 74 mph power curveball.

Thomas Johns  1B - 2016 - Pinson, AL
University of Alabama at Birmingham

An Auburn commit, Johns is an immensely strong 6-2/220 left handed hitter with big bat speed from an uppercut power oriented swing. He's very athletic for his size, with 7.2 speed and a strong arm that produced an 85 mph fastball off the mound.

James Kirklin III  OF - 2016 - Kennesaw, GA
Jacksonville State/Chattahoochee Valley CC

Kirklin was one of the top speed players at the event, showing 6.6 speed in the sixty and running the bases aggressively in the games. He kept his swing short and quick to the ball and hit well in the games.

Tervont Johnson  SS - 2016 - Atlanta, GA
Eastern Kentucky

Johnson is a quick twitch athlete with flashy defensive tools at second base and lots of left handed bat speed. He can turn on the ball and pull it with surprising power.

Tyler Sylvester  3B - 2016 - Lithonia, GA
Tennessee Tech

Ball jumps off his barrel and showed good power potential. Also up to 84 mph on the mound

Kyle Wilkie  C - 2016 - Cumming, GA
Clemson

Wilkie is an outstanding defensive catcher with quickness and a very strong throwing arm. His 1.75 pop time in drills was especially impressive.

Cole Ganopulos  LHP - 2016 - Jonesboro, GA
South Carolina/Chattahoochee Valley CC

An Auburn commit, Ganopulous throws from a deceptive low 3/4's arm slot that will bother left handed hitters. He was up to 87 mph and was regularly touching 88 mph last summer.

Hernen Sardinas  OF - 2016 - Miami, FL
Maine

Sardinas has a very strong left handed swing and bat speed that especially stood out in the games. He's also a solid defensive outfielder with a strong throwing arm.

Khaalis King  SS - 2016 - Decatur, GA
Grambling State

King is a quick actioned middle infielder who has the athleticism to stay at shortstop or second base at the next level. He has a strong fundamental swing from both sides of the plate and should keep improving as he gets stronger.

Micah Lloyd  SS - 2016 - Plano, TX
Incarnate Word

2017 Top Prospects

Robert Touron  RHP - 2017 - Miami, FL
St. Petersburg College

Freddy Zamora  SS - 2017 - Miami, FL
Miami

Zamora is a multi-tooled middle infielder who already has a commitment to Miami. He's a polished defensive player for a sophomore and has a quick right handed bat with present gap power. Zamora was also up to 88 mph from the mound.

Shane Shifflett  SS - 2017 - Venice, FL
South Carolina/State College of Florida

Shifflett appears fully recovered from the broken hamate bone that cost him most of the summer and he was able to show his bat speed from both sides of the plate along with his quick twitch athleticism both at shortstop and in the outfield. His 6.54 sixty really stood out.

Austin Beck  OF - 2017 - Arcadia, NC
North Carolina

Beck is a quick twitch athlete who already runs a 6.58 sixty and throws 90 mph from the outfield. The North Carolina commit has very good right handed bat speed that should keep improving as he gets older.

Brad Czerniejewski  OF - 2017 - Lake Forest, IL
TCU

Czerniejewski has tools all over the place and they keep getting better every time we see him play. Even though he already runs a 6.7 sixty and has a plus throwing arm in the outfield, his right handed bat speed might be his best present tool.

Kale Ledford  C - 2017 - Oxford, GA
Georgia/Chattahoochee Valley CC

Ledford has exceptional arm strength for his age both from third base and from behind the plate and his 1.77 pop time in drills stood out especially for a secondary catcher. He also had lots of bat speed from the right side.

Brady Scott  RHP - 2017 - Powder Springs, GA
Florida State

Scott has an athletic 6-6/260 build that makes it easy to compare him to 2014 PG All-American Luken Baker. The South Carolina commit was up to 88 mph with his fastball and also threw a tight 76 mph slider.

Zach Gibbs  RHP - 2017 - Wentzville, MO

Raymond Gil  3B - 2017 - Miami, FL

Brady Netherton  RHP - 2017 - Decatur, AL
Wallace CC-Dothan

Netherton is a quality two-way prospect with big arm strength both as an infielder and off the mound. He has lots of strength for a sophomore and can drive the ball hard from the right side of the plate.

Matt Oldham  C - 2017 - Pittsboro, NC

A Wake Forest commit, Oldham has very high level defensive skills and tools for a sophomore and will stand out defensively as he develops. He's a left handed hitter with quick hands and developing bat speed.

Bryan Grant  OF - 2017 - Acworth, GA
West GA Tech

Grant looks bigger and stronger than his listed 5-10/144 and uses that strength to generate lots of right handed bat speed. He's also a 7.0 runner with a strong and projectable arm.

Jose Ciccarello  SS - 2017 - Tampa, FL
Florida

Ciccarello has the body life and athleticism you like to see in a young shortstop, along with a very strong arm. He has a sound fundamental swing with quick hands and will keep improving as he adds strength.

Eddy Arteaga  C - 2017 - Miami, FL
Broward CC

Arteaga is a very strong sophomore with a left handed power oriented swing and lots of present bat speed. His arm strength stands out behind the plate for his age, too.

Robert Scott  SS - 2017 - Longwood, FL
Uncommitted

Scott is only 5-10/135 and has lots of growing to do but he's a very good athlete with polished baseball actions. He has surprising bat speed for his size and a well above average ability to square the ball up hard.

Darius Foster  OF - 2017 - Norcross, GA
San Francisco

Foster is a quick twitch athlete who showed well on both sides of the ball. He ran a 6.8 sixty and showed big range and athleticism in the outfield, while also hitting the ball hard from the left side.

Christian Santana  RHP - 2017 - Hialeah, FL
Florida International

Santana is an athletic 6-2/170 outfielder with some right handed bat speed but he might have a higher ceiling on the mound. He was up to 86 mph with a loose and fast arm and also threw a good mid-70's slider.

Jeter Downs  SS - 2017 - Miami, FL
Miami

Downs has a well rounded set of athletic tools that really stood out on defense during the games. He has a short and crisp right handed swing at the plate and solid present bat speed.

Jordan Schulefand  MIF - 2017 - Parkland, FL
Richmond

Schulefand looks young even for a sophomore and has a narrow 5-11/155 frame but he is a very good athlete who has a fast and projectable right arm. His present mid-80's fastball will keep bumping upwards as he gets stronger.

Sean Mootrey  3B - 2017 - Atlanta, GA
GGC

Mootrey stands out for his 6-4/225 build but he has big tools as well. He's mobile and athletic for his size behind the plate defensively and has right handed power at the plate. He also threw 86 mph from the mound to show his arm strength.

Xavier Posada  C - 2017 - Hialeah, FL
Uncommitted

Posada stood out in the games for his quickness defensively and his overall catch and throw skills. He also has a quick and very fundamentally sound right handed swing that will produce high averages and some gap power.

Malik Williams  1B - 2017 - Toronto, ON CAN
Lipscomb/Johnson County CC

Williams has some swing adjustments to make but few players have the strength and natural power that this big, young Canadian has from the right side.

Corbin Brooksbank  RHP - 2017 - Signal Mountain, TN
Vanderbilt

Brooksbank is a very athletic 5-11/170 right hander who showed very good command of a fastball up to 86 mph. He also threw a power curveball that reached the mid-70's.

2018 Top Prospects

Levi Kelly  RHP - 2018 - Cape Coral, FL
Louisiana State

The 6-3/185 Kelly is only a freshman but he's already hitting 90 mph and there is more in there as he is physically projectable and was only up to 86 mph in the fall. He also threw a very impressive change up for a pitcher his age.

Kendall Logan Simmons  SS - 2018 - Macon, GA
Georgia Tech

Simmons is only a freshman but he has present tools across the board, including a strong throwing arm from both the infield and the mound and very good right handed bat speed. He'll be a fun player to watch develop over the next few years.

Will Banfield  C - 2018 - Lawrenceville, GA
Vanderbilt

Banfield is very young catcher but he already has an impressive collection of present tools and is extremely projectable. He might even be a two-way prospect after throwing up to 86 mph off the mound.

John Malcom  UT - 2018 - West Bloomfield, MI
Tampa/College of Central Florida

This young Michigan resident is a primary left handed pitcher and has potential on the mound but he presently grades out much higher as a left handed hitter. Malcom's swing was mechanically sound with big bat speed for any class.

Xavier Edwards  SS - 2018 - Wellington, FL
Vanderbilt

Edwards is still only 5-7/135 and he's never going to be a big athlete but that won't matter with the way he plays defense at shortstop. He has some special actions and balance at that premium position.

Chase Sanguinetti  OF - 2018 - Tampa, FL
Florida State

An early Florida State commit, Sanguinetti has a powerful and strong left handed swing that is going to keep improving as he gets stronger.

Andrew Lee  OF - 2018 - Boynton Beach, FL

Lee's 6-1/180 build stands out for a freshman and he's going to be a strong young man when he matures. He has a quick right handed swing at the plate with lots of power potential.

Henry Davis  C - 2018 - Bedford, NY
Louisville

Davis has lots of potential and projection both as a catcher and right handed pitcher. He's 6-1/160 with loose athletic actions and will have big arm strength as he matures.

Christopher Mercedes  OF - 2018 - Winter Garden, FL
Uncommitted

Mercedes is still growing into his impressive 6-5/200 frame but he flashes smooth athletic actions at times. He could develop either as a power hitting outfielder or as a right handed pitcher.

Triston Casas  3B - 2018 - Pembroke Pines, FL
Miami

Casas already has a commitment to Miami as an 8th grader but he's a legit talent, with a big and well proportioned 6-4/232 build and a smooth and powerful left handed swing. He could be something special if he doesn't get too big.

Leyton Pinckney  C - 2018 - Kathleen, GA
University of Houston
