2017 Top Prospects

Jonny Deluca  OF - 2017 - Agoura Hills, CA
Oregon

Deluca, an Oregon commmit, stood out both in the workout and game portions of the showcase. He displayed a very advanced feel for the barrel in game-action peppering line drives and generating solid contact to the entire field. Additionally, he posted a 6.63 60-yard dash and showed off solid fundamentals and a strong arm, hitting 90 mph from the outfield in defensive drills.

Ryan Rodriguez  RHP - 2017 - Upland, CA
UC Davis

Rodriguez was very impressive on Sunday. The lean, athletic righty posted the best velocity from the mound this weekend, hitting 88 mph, and doing so throughout his four-no hit innings. The athletic righty also has nice feel for sharp, biting 12/6 curveball with good depth.

Landon Schirer  RHP - 2017 - La Mesa, CA
Orange Coast College

Schirer is an intimidating force on the mound. The big 6-foot-5, 235 pound righty consistently worked in the 83-86 mph range with fastball, which showed both cutting and tailing action at times. Schirer also showcased a sharp slider with good tilt and two-plane depth.

Joshua Bozoian  OF - 2017 - Chino Hills, CA
Union University

Bozoian is a strong, well-proportioned 6-foot-2, 205 pounds and the outfielder stood out in batting practice. Bozoian's strength plays well in his swing, and he showed good jump off of the barrel and impressive carry to the opposite field.

Jordan Terrell  SS - 2017 - Fairfield, CA
Uncommitted

Terrell is a compact athlete, and his 6.86 60-yard dash was one of the quickest at this event. His speed plays well in the outfield, where he moves well to the ball and also shows big arm strength, registering 87 mph on the radar gun in defensive drills. The righthanded hitter also has some feel for the barrel, and showed an ability to use the entire field.

Jimmy McClenaghan  OF - 2017 - Modesto, CA
Pacific/San Joaquin Delta College

McClenaghan, a Nebraska commit, is an athletic and projectable 6-foot-2, 165 pounds. The outfielder has solid defensive fundamentals. McClenaghan also shows good barrel utilization, and shows comfort in using the middle of the field in his simple, repeatable, and balanced approach.

Trey Winget  OF - 2017 - Washington, UT
St. Mary's/Gateway CC (AZ)

Winget, a 6-foot, 170 pound outfielder, is a solid athlete. He ran a 6.81 60-yard dash and showed off good armstrength, hitting 85 mph from right field in defensive drills. The lefthanded hitter also has a sweet swing and is short to the ball.

Brandon Bohning  SS - 2017 - Simi Valley, CA
Cal State Northridge

Bohning has a nice well-rounded skill set. The 5-foot-11, 165 pound shortstop is light on his feet, and moves well to the ball in the infield. He also ran a 6.91 60-yard dash. Bohning also hit the ball well in game-action, showing off a solid overall approach with a short, efficient swing geared for line-drive contact.

Alex Andranovich  OF - 2017 - San Diego, CA
Oregon

Andranovich ran a solid 6.95 60-yard dash and also showcased solid defensive chops. The 5-foot-10, 165 pounder has a strong arm, as evidenced by his 86 mph throws from the outfield, and 81 mph throws across the diamond in the infield portion of defensive drills.

Logan Cole  C - 2017 - Livermore, CA

Cole was very good in all facets this weekend. The compactly built 5-foot-9, 165 pound primary catcher showed good defensive chops, with a compact arm-action and quick actions that allowed him to post a 1.92 pop time in defensive drills. Cole also was effective on the mound, throwing a lot of strikes with a fastball up to 83 mph. Finally, he also showcased solid feel for the barrel, using a line-drive swing plane geared for contact.

Christian Gardner  OF - 2017 - Fairfield, CA
Uncommitted

Gardner ran the 60-yard dash in a solid 6.95 seconds, and the athletic compactly-built outfielder had a solid showing at the plate. The righthanded hitter performed well in batting practice, showing off a rotational swing with feel for the barrel and natural loft and leverage.

Joshua Goda  C - 2017 - Mission Viejo, CA
Uncommitted

Goda has a large, athletic 6-foot-1,185 pound frame, and he should continue to get stronger as he matures. At present he has impressive physical strength, and it can show up in his swing, as he has some loft and carry off of the barrel. Additionally, he has a strong arm behind the plate, posting a catcher velocity of 82 mph and pop time of 1.93 seconds. Finally, he was up to 84 mph off of the mound, showcasing an aggressive approach and good mound presence.

Chris Jimenez  C - 2017 - Fontana, CA
Long Beach State

Jimenez was one of the more impressive defensive catchers at the showcase. He has solid fundamentals and shows off a quick transfer and release to go with a compact arm-action which allowed him to post a very nice pop time of 1.87 seconds in defensive drills.

Nico Mannucci  RHP - 2017 - Pasadena, CA
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges

Mannucci ran the 60-yard dash in 6.91 seconds and his speed translates well to his defensive game, as he moves well to the ball in the outfield as well. He performed well in defensive drills, and showed off a strong arm, throwing to bases as high as 86 mph.

Ryan Roche  SS - 2017 - Valley Village, CA

Roche was solid in both the outfield and infield in defensive drills, posting velocities of 85 mph and 83 mph, respectively. On the mound the 5-foot-10, 165 pound righty was up to 82 mph and worked in a 66 mph curveball. Additionally, Roche showed hard contact in batting practice, showing comfort in pulling the ball.

Justin Yang  RHP - 2017 - Fountain Valley, CA
University of Redlands

Yang had a solid all around performance this weekend. The lean, projectable 6-foot-1, 160 pound switch hitter has good bat speed and maintains good balance in his swing from both sides of the plate. Yang is also a solid athlete, running a 6.96 60-yard dash. Additionally, Yang showed off some arm strength and feel for pitching when he took the mound, adeptly using a fastball up to 84 mph and a curveball with 12/6 shape.


2018 Top Prospects

Clay Owens  C - 2018 - Corona, CA
Southern California

Owens showed well from the plate. The 6-foot-1, 185 pound infielder has good bat speed and hand quickness from the left side. Owens creates some natural lift and backspin with his fluid stroke from the left side, and he was one of the more polished all around hitters at the event.

Connor Chapman  3B - 2018 - Anaheim, CA
Uncommitted

Chapman was extremely impressive in game-action. The 6-foot-1, 190 pound third baseman already has game power, and he turned on an elevated fastball over the left field fence for a homerun. Chapman also showed a feel for using the opposite field in both batting practice and game action. Additionally, Chapman showcased some arm-strength, hitting 81 mph in both defensive drills and off of the mound as a relief pitcher.

Jahred Butler  RHP - 2018 - Hemet, CA
Colorado Mesa

Butler is a sturdy 6-foot-2, 200 pounds, and he's an imposing figure on the mound for class of 2018 player. The righty has some deception in his delivery, with a hip turn and high leg lift, and his fastball up to 83 mph gets on hitters quickly. Butler also flashed feel for both his changeup and slider, with both offerings missing bats at times.

Caleb Turner  OF - 2018 - Corona, CA
Uncommitted

Turner has a nice lean, athletic and projectable 6-foot-2, 178 pound frame. The outfielder showed well in game action, using solid bat speed and feel for the barrel to hit the ball hard to the gaps. As he continues to get stronger and fill into his long frame, he should develop into more power.

Blake Dickerson  LHP - 2018 - Temecula, CA
University of Puget Sound

Like Turner, Dickerson has a very lean, projectable frame. The 6-foot-3, 170 pounder has athletic actions in the field, and a clean release that translates well to the mound. He also carries a loose, fluid swing to the left handed batter's box. Dickerson impressed in batting practice and showed good feel for using the barrel in his simple, repeatable, contact-oriented approach.

Tyler Wright  SS - 2018 - Bellflower, CA
San Jose State

Wright displayed an efficient, compact path to the ball in batting practice. Additionally, the compactly built athlete has solid bat speed and is able to whip the barrel through the hitting path nicely. With an whole-field approach, and some jump coming off of the barrel, Wright projects well at the plate.


2019 Top Prospects

Emanuel Dean  OF - 2019 - Anaheim Hills, CA
UCLA

Dean is very physical for a 2019 graduate. The 6-foot-1, 195 pound outfielder has a large, broad frame and he has a nice aggressive approach and high motor on the field. At the plate Dean's strength shows up when he squares up the ball, and the ball carries to all fields. As he gets more reps and experience, Dean should continue to hit the ball hard and he has a chance to be an impact player.

Colton McIntosh  SS - 2019 - Phoenix, AZ
University of Washington/Paradise Valley Community

McIntosh showed very well in the games this weekend. The switch-hitting middle infielder showed a nice, advanced approach from both sides of the plate. Similarly, he displayed good barrel utilization and an ability to use both the pullside and opposite field with equal comfort and effectiveness. He's a solid overall athlete and has some tools to work with on the defensive side of the ball, with solid footwork and arm strength.

Caden Miller  SS - 2019 - Newhall, CA
San Diego State

Miller ran a 6.81 60-yard dash, tied for fourth best of the entire Underclass Showcase, and easily the fastest by a class of 2019 player. The compactly built 5-foot-9, 150 pound middle infielder has solid body control and overall athleticism, and he also shows feel for the barrel from both sides of the plate.
