Baum pitched his way into the PG All-American Classic with an outstanding performance for the champion Orlando Scorpions at the 17u Perfect Game World Series in mid-July. The slender but very athletic and projectable righthander has been improving steadily for the last two years and was only throwing 78-82 mph at this time in 2013. Now Baum works at 91-94 mph with his live, sinking fastball and has two very promising secondary pitches in a sharp and biting upper-70s curveball and a darting changeup.
