The always unpredictable CIF Southern Section Division I tournament has bucked it's share of highly ranked teams from the top of the polls over the past few weeks. But a it's conclusion, the last team standing from that high caliber mine field is generally rewarded handsomely. This year it was Santa Margarita (Calif.) who managed the feat, and they land at No. 5 in the country after capturing one of the most difficult championships in the country. The Eagles finished second in the regular season of the Trinity League, but knocked off the league's regular season champion JSerra (then No. 12) in the semifinals before cruising to a convincing win in the title game at Dodger Stadium. The Division II title went to Temecula Valley, who previously won the Southern Bracket of the Boras Classic, they re-enter the rankings at No. 15.

The other high profile championship clinched this week was the Texas 5A state championship in Round Rock. North Texas' Flower Mound knocked off then No. 2 Pearland in the semifinals and cruised to a 10-0 win in the championship game. Flower Mound jumps to No. 7 for their efforts and are the top ranked team of Texas' six representatives.

San Diego featured a pair of top 25 representatives throughout much of the season. But on Saturday they crowned a champion and it was neither Rancho Bernardo not Cathedral Catholic who took home the hardware. Granite Hills swept Cathedral Catholic out of the playoffs to improve to 3-0 against them in the season series. Granite Hills comes in at No. 12 after finishing the season 26-7.

The final top 100 rankings will be released next week.
