Ohio Valley All-Tournament Teams

Sean Cunningham

Perfect Game’s new Super25 series took place in the Ohio Valley Region the weekend of June 12-15, with the 17u, 15u and 14u Regionals all taking place.

In the 17u tournament was held in Dublin, Ohio.  Talented teams like the Cincinnati Baseball Club, the Kentucky Baseball Club, and the Louisville Baseball Club all showed off some series talent, but it was the Illinois Blaze that ended up taking the title.

The All-Tournament Team is full of promising players who should dominate during their senior years of high school.

Notable hitting performances from the tournament included Larkin Hanselman and Luke Johnson from the champion Illinois Blaze.  Hanselman led the tournament in hits (14) and batting average (.560), while Johnson led the tournament in RBI (8) while hitting .500.  JJ Johnson of the Cincinnati Baseball also had a huge weekend, hitting .526 and leading the tournament in slugging (.789).

On the mound, Buck Moore of the Hilliard Cats was the most notable pitcher from the weekend.  He averaged a strikeout per inning while leading the tournament in innings pitched (14).  Hanselman was also effective on the mound, as he allowed only 1 hit and had a WHIP of 0.143 for the weekend.

The Kentucky Baseball Club went undefeated during the tournament largely due to their excellent starting pitching.  CJ Bush let up just one hit while striking out 7.  Jacob Abbott also struck out 7 in 6 innings on the hill, while Ben Jordan led the tournament in strikeouts with 9.

At the plate, Abbott led the Kentucky Baseball Club on offense with a tournament-best 8 RBI.  The Ohio Elite Moss had the best offense of the tournament, however, with Jason Schutte leading the way.  Schutte slugged 1.000 while hitting .636, while Austin Nester drove in 7 and Sam Wilson and Dimitri Bergados drove in 5 for the Ohio Elite offense.
