2016 Top Prospects

Chad McClanahan  1B - 2016 - Scottsdale, AZ
Arizona State

McClanahan's long and loose 6-5/190 build is build for power and so is his very well timed swing. He took the best BP session of the event and is just a bit of mature strength away from making ball parks look small when he's hitting.

Robert Reeves  C - 2016 - Sylmar, CA
Uncommitted

Reeves is a very high energy catcher who is going to keep getting better as he fills out his 6-4/180 frame. He blocks and throws very well defensively and has lots of left handed bat speed at the plate.

Luke Lepine  C - 2016 - Calgary, AB CAN
Northeastern Junior College

Lepine is a left handed hitting catcher who has lots of lift and power in his swing and does a good job of hitting under control while still driving the ball. He caught well in the games and had a 2.07 game pop time to go with a 1.96 in drills.

Jacob Gorman  3B - 2016 - San Diego, CA
Uncommitted

Gorman showed intriguing tools on both sides of the ball, throwing 88 mph from the outfield, running a 6.94 60 yard dash and flashing good power from the right side of the plate. He also topped out at 86 mph on the mound with a sharp curveball.

Peter Hutzal  SS - 2016 - Calgary, AB CAN
Marshall

Hutzal was one of a number of players from Canada at the event and played well. He has a smooth left handed swing and good bat speed at the plate while also running a 7.08 sixty and showing good defensive tools in the middle infield. Hutzal also threw in the mid-80's off the mound.

Kea'von Edwards  SS - 2016 - Oklahoma City, OK
Coastal Carolina

Edwards has a loose and projectable athletic build but already has plenty of strength in his right handed swing, along with plenty of lift that produced some deep drives in BP. He also ran a 7.0 sixty.

Cole Van Den Helder  RHP - 2016 - San Diego, CA
Oregon

Van Den Helder has a young and loose 6-0/180 build that has good length to it to go with a smooth arm action and delivery. He pitched steadily in the mid-80's with a big curveball and changeup.

Alex Sosnowski  SS - 2016 - Orange, CA
Tennessee

Showing off outstanding game action skills at shortstop, Sosnowski flashes excellent range and solid arm strength across the diamond. At the plate, he stays inside the ball very well and has a sound, line drive approach.

Bennett Keane  RHP - 2016 - Mill Valley, CA
Uncommitted

Keane has a nice 6-3/190 pitcher's build with good length and some present strength. He topped out at 85 mph from a long and loose arm action, with his change up being his best secondary pitch.

Micah Lloyd  SS - 2016 - Plano, TX
Incarnate Word

Lloyd has a short, compact quick twitch build and a nice swing from both sides of the plate. He ran a 6.96 and has all the tools to be a very good second baseman at the next level.

Corey Treyes  SS - 2016 - West Covina, CA
Coppin State

Treyes showed good middle infield actions defensively, along with a strong build that should enable him to improve at the plate with some swing adjustments, but he might have a future on the mound as well. He sat in the mid-80's with a very good hard curveball.

Nicholas Engle  OF - 2016 - Omaha, NE
St. Cloud State

The left handed hitting Engle took a strong batting practice but where he really stood out was in the games. He just missed one home run at the plate and stood out defensively with his athleticism.

Danny Fischetti  LHP - 2016 - Phoenix, AZ
Regis

Fischetti is still too young and slender to light up the radar gun but will add to his present 80 mph fastball with additional strength. What he can do now is really pitch, with a very good hard curveball, a nice change up and even a cutter he all threw for strikes while easily retiring nine straight hitters.

2017 Top Prospects

Blake Paugh  OF - 2017 - Scottsdale, AZ
Arizona

Paugh has outstanding strength for a sophomore and showed the best raw bat speed of any player at the showcase regardless of class. He also ran a 6.86 sixty and threw 88 mph from the outfield. Plus, he's a projectable athlete who is just going to keep getting better.

Antoine Mistico  OF - 2017 - Chandler, AZ
Illinois

Mistico is a quick twitch athlete who ran a 6.71 sixty and looks faster on the bases. He has a slashing left handed swing with good bat speed and some present gap power that's going to lead to lots of doubles and triples in the future.

Jacob Gonzalez  3B - 2017 - Scottsdale, AZ
TCU

Gonzalez is still growing into his 6-3/180 frame and is going to be some kind of strong when he fills out and is mature. That's going to translate into big right handed power.

Syler Shepherd  OF - 2017 - Flower Mound, TX
Weatherford College

Shepherd has the athletic ability to play all over the field defensively, including 6.91 speed for a primary catcher. He showed some of the best hitting ability of the event with a simple balanced approach and lots of right handed bat speed and gap power.

Noah Winkelman  OF - 2017 - Foley, MN
Northwest Florida State College

Winkleman showed a big arm both in the outfield and behind the plate, where his 81 mph velocity is outstanding for a sophomore. He's a left handed hitter with strength in his swing, especially when he's looking to pull the ball.

Jose Cerda  SS - 2017 - Chula Vista, CA
Uncommitted

Cerda is a primary third baseman with good arm strength and some right handed bat speed. But he really looked good on the mound, throwing in the 84-86 mph range with a nice hard curveball.

Jake Meyer  C - 2017 - Scottsdale, AZ
Washington State

Mayer was very solid behind the plate defensively and has a 6-0/170 body that already has some present strength needed for the position. He flashed the ability to drive the ball deep to the middle of the field in BP and in the games.

Clayton Keyes  OF - 2017 - Calgary, AB CAN
Central Arizona CC

Keyes ran an event best 6.71 60 yard dash time, showing above average athleticism and flashing good bat speed along the way. He also threw 83 mph from the outfield.
