Perfect Game has paired BCS (Baseball Championship Series) tournament events in both Georgia and Fort Myers, Fla., as well as the PG EvoShield Classic, to run at the same time as the PG Super25 National Championships for the 2015 tournament season. The BCS Finals will line up with the 9u through 12u PG Super25 National Championships in Georgia. The 13u, 14u and 17u BCS Finals will coincide with the PG Super25 National Championships at those same age divisions in Fort Myers, Fla., while the 15u and 16u PG Super25 National Chapmionships will be held at the same time as the 15u and 16u PG EvoShield Classic in Georgia.

The full explanation is just below, but the bottom line is that all teams hoping to advance and compete won't have to worry about making, or canceling, their travel plans if they don't qualify to the championship round of play.

Here is the release from Taylor McCollough, Perfect Game's National Tournament Director:

Since teams have to qualify for the Super25 National Championship, we scheduled another PG tournament (BCS or PG EvoShield) for the same dates and location so that teams are able to plan out their summer plans in advance. Those hoping to qualify for the Super25 can register for the BCS or PG EvoShield event, book hotels, and know they are going to either Fort Myers or Georgia on those dates. If they qualify, we will transfer them over to the Super25, and if they don’t earn a berth they still have a quality tournament to play that week.

Both events that overlap have the exact same number of game guarantee, exact same dates, and exact same price. They will be the same type of bats as well. There is no differences there.

So which one would we recommend?

It really depends what type of experience your team is looking for. If you are able to play in a Super25 Regional or Super Qualifier, and want to keep that same team together to play for the National Championship, the Super25 is for you. If your team has players from all over the country, or you don’t want to try to qualify through a Regional, the BCS is for you. The great thing about the BCS is that there will be a bunch of great teams participating since everyone knows its takes some luck to win a Super25 Regional and make the National Championship. Both events will be full of very good teams resulting in top-notch competition on top-notch fields.

The quick answer is nine years old. Perfect Game's new venture in 2014, the Super25, as mentioned above, introduced 9u, 10u and 11u tournaments to our structure, promoting the importance of playing together as a team throughout the qualifying process.

We will expand our youth-aged tournaments even further in 2015, with several events being added to the schedule, particularly this spring, thanks to the Perfect Game Park South fields at LakePoint in Emerson, Ga.

You can search for events by age group by using this handy tool as part of the Perfect Game website:
