Georgia 6, Kentucky 1 (10 innings, Sunday)

What a weekend it was. After seeing three first round arms on three consecutive days in Carson Fulmer on Thursday, Jon Harris on Friday, and Walker Buehler on Saturday, I drove three hours north to get a look at the present and future. Kyle Cody and his University of Kentucky teammates played host to the University of Georgia sophomore Robert Tyler for the series finale Sunday afternoon.

After an up and down performance this spring and battling bouts of command issues, the 6-foot-7 Kyle Cody
, a junior, has strung together back-to-back starts with Sunday potentially being his best of 2015. Naturally, standing as tall as Cody is, it’s often difficult for a pitcher of his height to repeat his mechanics on a consistent basis, though Sunday he showed no signs of a struggle from a command standpoint. Working from a very short and compact arm action, Cody consistently got on top of his fastball, pounding the lower quadrants, and as a result didn’t issue a free pass.
