13u OVR All-Tourney Team

Perfect Game Super25 has released its official 13u All-Tournament teams from the 2015 Ohio Valley Regional Championship. The event was held June 5-7 in Lexington, Kentucky. The players selected were based on first-hand observations and evaluations by the PG Super25 Ohio Valley Regional Director, Rick Bale. 

13u Ohio Valley All Tournament Teams
 
1st Team

Pitcher – Austin Reed (Vipers Red)

 – Smooth delivery with quick arm action. Pool Play games 4 innings 3 hits, no runs, 8 Ks

Pitcher – Jack Alemi (Vipers Red)

 – Works quick with purpose – Semi finals – 5 innings, 2 hits, 3 ER, 2 Ks

Pitcher – JT Benson (Vipers Red)
– Crafty and pounds the strike zone.  Nothing too fancy but hitters have trouble barreling up the ball – W in the Championship game

Pitcher – Mason Mortimer (Bluegrass Express)


 – Little bit of a choppy delivers but with good command. Dominated the Vipers for four innings in semis but ran out of gas in the 5
th.  4 Innings of quality work scattered 6 hits no runs, with 3 K’s

Pitcher – Brevan Stith (Lexington Grays)

 – Got the win in playoffs first round. Threw 5 innings, 5 Hits, 6 Ks, 2 BBs 3 ERs.

Catcher – Matthew Reaves (Vipers Red)

 – Big strong catcher with plus arm and decent catch and block skills, went 8/15 with 3 2bs and 1 HR tallied up 7 RBIs

st Basemen – Bo Henry (KBC Blue)

 – Went 6 for 9 in four games with 3 walks and 2HBP.  2 2bs and 6 RBIs. Went 3/3 in the Championship game.

nd Baseman – Jake Neuzel (Bluegrass Express) 

– 4 for 6 with 2B and 3 RBIs.  He walked once.


3rd Baseman – Austin Reed (Vipers Red)

– Amazing range and arm strength plays shortstop too.  Hit .550 on the weekend 11/20 with 9 runs scored and 3 2b with 6 RBIs

Shortstop – Logan Beard (Vipers Red)

– Natural instincts with ability to track. Went 5/10 on the weekend with several walks and HBPs. Scored 10 times had 12B and 1 HR knocked in 8 RBIs

Outfield - Josh Halterman (Bluegrass Express)

 -.400 (4-10) 3B, SS, CF – solid player, pitches too. came in against Vipers and shutdown the bleeding in Semis

Outfield – Haiden Hunt (KBC Blue)

 – Typical lead off speed, puts pressure on the defense Hit .545 for the weekend going 6-11 with 2 2Bs. Scored 5 runs

Outfielder – Bryce Dreher (Vipers Red)

  – Plays everywhere listed as OF – went (8-13) with 3 BBs and 3 RBIs

Extra Hitter – Cody Rice (KBC Blue)

 – Played OF and 3
rd. Not too sure about the 3rd base spot but this kid can hit.  When he wasn’t walked (6-7) for a staggering .857 avg. on the weekend.  Went 1-1 in the championship game with two walks.
 
 
Honorable Mention 
 
Preston Howard (KBC Blue)

 – Went 6-9 and sprayed the ball all over the field. 

Mason Gentry (Bluegrass Express)  

 – Solid player plays both corners Went 4-11 with several quality abs moving runners.

Anderson Vitatoe (Lexington Grays)

 – Hit .417 on the weekend with a 3 for 4 performance w/ 1 2B vs Elite

Ben Young (Bluegrass Express)

 – 3B – thick athletic kid with plus skills, would like to have seen more of this player. Went (3-4) in limited action.

Connor Lewis (KBC Blue)

 – OF went 5 for 10 on the weekend stole several bases and threw a runner out at the plate in the Championship game.

Adam Talwalkar (Bluegrass Express)

 – C – plays with a strong desire to win…handles pitchers well, needs to improve blocking skills. Catch and release is good with plus arm.

Max Williams (Elite Baseball Club – Ivester)

 – SS banged out 5 hits in 11 ABs

Tyler Busson (KBC Red)


 – 3B – went .500 on the weekend going 4 for 8.

Cole Lockhart (Elite Baseball Club – Bowen)

 - .400 (2 for 5) had big two hit game off the bench in pool play

Cameron Smith (KBC Blue)

 -2B – 4 for 10 on the weekend with soft hands and accurate arm.
