9u Championship Recap: Day 4

Jordan Posway
Four teams remain in the PG Super25 9u National Championship race after the initial stage of the championship bracket came to a close. Here’s a recap of the quarterfinal action from day four:

The Banditos were no match for the high-powered offense of Full Potential Sports. Full Potential scored early and often with a six-run first inning, submerging the Banditos early. Jacob Mader-Cooper surrendered six runs, but he kept the Banditos at a distance with five serviceable innings from the mound. Following their 15-7 victory, Full Potential Sports secured a berth in the semifinal round.

The Carolina Heelz stunned the #6 ranked team in the nation, the Georgia Yard Dogs, 7-5 in a tight six inning contest. Jake Iannetto and the Heelz benefited from a superb second inning in which four runs crossed home. Ianetto finished the day 4-4 from the plate with four singles as the Heelz advanced to the next round.

Although the MOAB Dragons rallied for four-runs in the final inning, their efforts were not enough to unseat the Elite Gamers-Garner, who prevailed 7-4. Landen Granger and Evan Doss combined for five innings and ten strikeouts. The Gamers will square off against Full Potential Sports tomorrow with a championship game appearance up for grabs.

The Oklahoma Mudcats never relinquished their lead after an RBI single by Cash Williams in the top of the first inning. Cooper Frazee was spectacular on the mound as he stifled the Titans’ bats for four innings with no earned runs. The 6-3 win set the Mudcats up for an intriguing semifinal match-up with the Carolina Heelz.

The four semifinalists will duke it out tomorrow morning at 11:30 with their national championship hopes on the line. The Heelz and the Mudcats will go to battle on Field 4, while the Gamers and Full Potential will clash on Field 6.
