10u Championship Recap: Day 4

Jordan Posway
It was an exciting day in Marietta, Georgia, to say the least. Monday’s quarterfinal games featured thrilling shoot-outs and shocking upsets, making for one of the most exciting days of the 2015 National Championship season thus far. Once the dust settled at the East Cobb Baseball Complex, the tournament had been narrowed down to four teams. Here’s a game-by-game recap of the Monday’s quarterfinal action:

The 643 DP Cougars emerged victorious in a six inning brawl versus the Pro Player Hurricanes. A pair of fourth inning RBI singles by Logan Geter and Jeffrey Heuer ignited the offense as the Cougars rallied from a two-run deficit to a 6-4 win.

The Otc Xplosion simply could not keep up with the explosive offense of Tri-State Arsenal-McAdams. The Arsenal scored eleven runs in the opening two innings en route to a 15-6 quarterfinal victory. Jack Tallent recorded a game-high four RBIs, three of which came courtesy of his bases-loaded triple in the Arsenal’s second inning surge.

The Bronx Bombers qualified for the next round of the tournament with their 8-3 triumph over the CBC Elite, but they would have to take on the undefeated Tallahassee Heat Black in the first round of the championship bracket.

The Heat showed flashes of dominance early with a four-run first inning, but the Bombers never panicked. Entering the fourth inning, the mighty Heat owned a three-run advantage. With the odds stacked against them, the Bombers flipped the game upside down courtesy of an extraordinary ten-run rally. Timely hits and aggressive base running catapulted Jeremy Ramirez and the Bombers seven runs past the Heat. The Bombers fended off a late rally by the Heat and held on for the shocking 15-10 victory.

The Midland Blackhawks made quick work of the Banditos in the final game of the day. Dax Estep was at the forefront of the Blackhawks’ offensive explosion with four RBIs. He tallied two singles and a pair of triples as the Blackhawks ravaged the Banditos 17-1.

The semifinal contests will commence Tuesday morning at 11:30. The 643 DP Cougars will clash with the Bronx Bombers on Field 7, while the Midland Blackhawks will square off against Tri-State Arsenal on Field 8.
