11u Championship Recap: Day 5

Fans attending the PG Super25 11u National Championship on Monday were treated to two exciting semifinal match-ups. Only the BC Phenom and the Dallas Texans-Lowe are left standing in the aftermath of day five. Here’s a summary of the events from the semifinal round:

The semifinal match-up between the BC Phenom and Vipers Baseball was just the latest chapter in a heated rivalry. The Vipers defeated the Phenom 8-4 earlier in the tournament, but the Phenom would exact their revenge Monday morning. The Vipers jumped out to an early lead after Conor Ellingsworth’s two-run shot to left field, but the Phenom’s Chris Campanella responded accordingly, tying the score with a home run of his own. After Liam Lombardi’s third inning RBI single, the momentum stayed with the Phenom. Lombardi sealed the win with a two-run dinger in the fifth inning as the Phenom bounced their rivals 7-4.

It is only fitting that Jonathan Lowe was the hero in the Dallas Texans-Lowe’s 3-2 semifinal victory over the East Cobb Astros. His walk-off single in the bottom of the sixth scored Caden Fiveash and sent the Texans to the championship game. Fiveash also played an important role in the Texans’ triumph as he tossed a complete game four-hitter. Brynen Wilkins had a solid day at the plate in the Astros’ losing effort with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning.

The Dallas Texans-Lowe and the BC Phenom will represent their regions tomorrow morning at 9:00 in the PG Super25 11u National Championship game on Field 8.
