11u Championship Game Recap

Those Northern boys sure can play some ball. The BC Phenom represented Glenrock, New Jersey, well in their 15-7 championship game victory over the Dallas Texans-Lowe. The Phenom showed resilience as they overcame a four-run deficit to become the undisputed 2015 PG Super25 11u National Champions!

The Texans jumped out to an early lead in the first inning courtesy of an error and a three-run triple by Lance Mason. Jonathan Lowe took the mound for the Texans and stymied the Phenom’s bats for the opening two innings, but the Phenom would not stay down for long. Liam Lombardi sparked the Phenom's third inning rally with a solo shot to right field, and soon enough, his teammates followed suit with home runs of their own. Gabriel Francisco and Generoso Romano accounted for four more runs with a pair of long balls. With their seven-run explosion, the Phenom erased the Texans’ lead and established an improbable three-run advantage.

Both teams tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning, but the Phenom would pull away for good in the ensuing inning thanks to a grand slam by Generoso Romano, who finished the day with a game-high six RBIs. Following Breiley Polanco’s two-run single to right field, the Phenom had built an insurmountable nine-run lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. Romano put the finishing touches on the Phenom’s 15-7 win as he quelled the Texans’ late rally with a pair of strikeouts.

The BC Phenom overcame numerous hurdles on their quest for the national championship. They avenged an early loss to the Vipers in the semifinals, and followed it up with a comeback victory in the championship game. Once the dust settled on Field 8, Liam Lombardi of the Phenom was honored as the MVP of the tournament, while Caden Fiveash of the Dallas Texans received the well-deserved MVPitcher award. The BC Phenom came to Georgia with a chip on their shoulder, but they will return to New Jersey as National Champions!
