The
annual East Coast Professional Showcase, an event that is run
entirely by professional scouts, moved this year to Steinbrenner
Field in Tampa after a three-year run in Syracuse, N.Y. It features
six teams of primarily East Coast top prospects that run about 90
percent from the 2016 class with a smattering of 2017s. Its two
primary organizers are John Castleberry, a crosschecker with the San
Francisco Giants, and Brian Bridges, the scouting director of the
Atlanta Braves.
Twenty-two
of the 24 healthy members of the PG All-American Classic East team
are in Tampa for the four days of games and drills in addition to
three members of the PG All-American Classic West team; First baseman
and lefthanded pitcher Walker Robbins (Mississippi), outfielder Jaren
Shelby (Kentucky) and catcher/firstbaseman T.J. Collett (India
