2017 Top Prospects

Owen Batchelder  LHP - 2017 - Amherst, NH

Large frame with broad shoulders, lots of projection left physically. Showed simple leg raise delivery with excellent arm speed and projectable velocity. Already up to 85 with more coming, commanded fastball well to both sides of the plate with plane and life on pitch. Solid 1/7 breaking CB with lots of depth and good spin.

Andrew Derubertis  RHP - 2017 - Pearl River, NY
Davidson

Large, physical build with good present strength and projection on body. Up to 85 MPH on the mound with a lot more in the tank. Commanded FB well to both sides of the plate. Showed deceptive, sinking CH with good velocity differential, also showed deep, sharp CB.

Justin Olson  RHP - 2017 - Avon, CT

Strong build, smooth and repeatable delivery when on the mound with good rhythm and tempo throughout delivery. Fastball up to 84 MPH from extended 3/4 release, good command of the strike zone and attacked hitters with FB. Very heavy fastball, very tough for opposing hitters to square up. Showed deep CB with 11/5 shape as well as more sweeping, horizontal-breaking slider.

Connor Mulligan  OF - 2017 - Reading, MA

Showed outstanding arm strength from the OF, up to 87 MPH with excellent carry and easy release. Very good, very smooth defensive actions as well. Got up to 80 MPH on the mound, showed some cut on the FB, was able to work both sides of the plate. Very simple, easy swing at the plate, consistently barreled the ball up on a line to all fields.

Corey Diloreto  OF - 2017 - Reading, MA

Large, lean, projectable pitcher's frame with good downward plane in delivery, fastball touched 82 and projects for more velocity moving forward. Also showed a tight, sharp curveball with excellent depth and spin.

Matt Shilling  MIF - 2017 - Blue Bell, PA

Showed very quick bat with advanced hand speed in BP, continued that in game with several hits on a line to all parts of the field. Up to 84 on the mound from high 3/4 slot, good downhill plane with extension, showed CB with good depth and tight spin, break was sharp and late. Quick exchange and release with excellent footwork in the IF as well, throwing 84 MPH across the diamond.

John "Jack" Wallace  RHP - 2017 - Winthrop, MA
Franklin Pierce

Got up to 86 MPH and kept hitters off balance. Wallace throws from over the top and has command of three pitches. Has a really good feel for the game and brings with him a strong mound presence.

Evan Callahan  RHP - 2017 - Bethlehem, PA

Strong, projectable frame with long arms that create whippy arm speed. Fastball worked in the low 80's, topping at 83 with good life and command. Curveball showed 11/5 shape with good depth and spin; commanded both pitches to both sides of the plate well.

Very athletic player with good present build and more to come. Showed legitimate bat speed with plus jump off the barrel, highly projectable hitting tools both for average and power. Also showed very well defensively (84 MPH from the OF) and ran a 6.93 60 yard dash, highlighting his athleticism.

Jack Archer  RHP - 2017 - New York, NY
Johns Hopkins University

Long, lean, highly projectable body/frame. Fastball up to 83 already with good downward plane on the pitch, also showed solid command of the offering. Lots of velocity projection remaining on the pitch. Complemented it well with a sharp curveball topping at 68, showing good overall feel for pitching as well.

Evan Ferris  LHP - 2017 - Middleboro, MA

Showed well in 3 phases of the game. Worked up to 81 with his fastball and pounded downhill with good command, showing good feel for 11/5 CB and fading CH. Easy swing with loft and projectable overall hitting tools, projects well both for average and power. Also showed easy, clean fielding actions with good arm strength and accuracy in the outfield.

Luke Broadhurst  SS - 2017 - Stafford Springs, CT
University of Connecticut

Very highly projectable frame with excellent quick twitch athleticism. Ran a 6.69 60 yard dash and continued to show that speed and athleticism throughout weekend. Quick first step defensively with very good footwork and range to both sides, threw 83 MPH across the infield. Good jump off the barrel with consistent line drive contact at the plate, power will come in the future as well.

August Samek  SS - 2017 - Teaneck, NJ

Very easy swing at the plate with good shift into contact and quality bat speed, shows barrel control and ability to match plane of pitch with ease. Consistently barreled line drives to all parts of the field, jump off the barrel projects for power in the future. Ran very well, posting 6.68 seconds in the 60. Threw 82 MPH across the IF with quick release and good fielding actions.

Ian Ostberg  SS - 2017 - Florence, MA

Showed a really good all around game, both defensively and offensively to go along with impressive athleticism. Ran a 6.71 60 yard dash. Showed clean actions and smoothness in the infield, throwing 84 MPH across. Employed balanced mechanics with an easy, line drive swing that resulted in lots of hard contact.

Miles Kelly  1B - 2017 - Wading River, NY
College of Charleston

Had one of the more impressive batting practice displays of the entire event, consistently using a power, leveraged swing to drive the baseball into the air and deep. Power is there already with even more coming in the future. Impressive strength off the barrel.

John Barone  RHP - 2017 - Wayne, NJ

Highly projectable frame with lots of room to fill out, showing quick arm on the mound with good mechanics throughout delivery. Topped at 82 MPH on his fastball and complemented it well with both CB and CH, each of which were effective. Also shows bat speed and quality contact ability at the plate, will grow into more power as well.

Jason Hebner  LHP - 2017 - Newtown, CT

Highly projectable lefty who showed good mix of present stuff (touched 81 MPH), pitchability, and command as well as the potential for much more in the future. Repeated delivery well on the mound and also showed some pop in batting practice, with more to come as he physically matures.

XL frame with broad shoulders and plenty of present strength, showed smooth delivery and arm action, fastball up to 81 MPH with cutting action and projectable velocity. Changeup was very advanced with deception out of hand and fading action, also showed curveball with sweeping tilt and good shape.

2018 Top Prospects

Mike Siani  OF - 2018 - Glenside, PA
Virginia

Showed loud tools throughout entire profile. Up to 87 MPH on the mound, very quick and loose arm action, downhill to the plate with cutting action, pounded zone with FB as well as hard diving CB. Legitimate bat speed and power as well, hit a HR in BP, generates excellent hip torque and fires through the zone with controlled violence. Excellent two-way prospect.

Mike Vasil  RHP - 2018 - Wellesley, MA
Virginia

Large, highly projectable frame. Ball absolutely jumps out of his hand, fastball worked 82-86 topping at 86 with excellent arm side run and velocity projection. Easy, repeatable delivery. CB showed good shape and bite, excellent feel for the changeup with late sink/fade to go along with deceptive arm speed. Very high upside.

Joe Miller  LHP - 2018 - Hatboro, PA
Pennsylvania

Very good showing all around. Up to 85 on the mound with smooth, repeatable delivery and plus extension out in front. Challenged hitters consistently and commanded FB well. CB has excellent late, sharp bite. Very athletic, quick actions in the outfield, throwing accurately up to 86. Line drive approach at the plate, consistent hard contact, swing has some leverage and will develop consistent power moving forward as well.

Leif Bigelow  RHP - 2018 - Brattleboro, VT

Highly athletic, highly projectable physicality. Showed smooth stroke when hitting with excellent hand speed and barrel control, made consistently hard line drive contact to all fields with projectable power. Smooth actions defensively both in the IF and OF, excellent arm strength as well, throwing 86 from the OF and 85 across the infield.

Ryan Cusick  RHP - 2018 - Sudbury, MA
Wake Forest

Long, lean, highly projectable pitcher's frame with long limbs. Good extension out front at release, fastball worked 80-83 topping at 84 with high level velocity projection. Fastball has good life, riding in on right handed hitters and dominating at times. Curveball showed sharp tilting shape, legitimate bat-missing potential on the pitch. High end projection overall.

Mike Doherty  RHP - 2018 - Sandwich, MA

Large, highly projectable frame with long levers and good overall physicality. Up to 84 on the mound with clean arm action and good downhill plane, flashed quality command of the offering. Showed good feel for CB in low 70's, missed bats with pitch and was able to throw for strikes as well as out of zone. Ran well, clocking 6.95 seconds in the 60.

Kendal Heath  RHP - 2018 - Charlestown, NH

XL, workhorse frame with excellent present strength. Fastball up to 82 with quick, short arm action, stays tall on backside and drives downhill to home plate with some added deception from moving parts in delivery. Good downhill plane on pitch when commanded down in zone. Showed CB with good shape and spin, commanded both pitches well.

Andrew Cossetti  C - 2018 - Eagleville, PA
St. Joseph's

Showed some of the best power of his class during BP, consistently triggering on time and synching up upper/lower halves. Very good bat speed into leveraged, strong swing. Ball jumped off his bat and will continue to do so. Popped 1.89 during drills with advanced footwork and arm strength as well.

Ryan Kircher  LHP - 2018 - Pittsburgh, PA

Very advanced pitchability on the mound. Very good over 4 innings, missing bats with variety of quality pitches. Very quick, deceptive arm action from 3/4 slot. Fastball up to 81 with excellent life. Very sharp, two-plane slider, and tumbling changeup. Commanded all pitches at a high level.

Ben Delaubell  RHP - 2018 - Cheshire, CT

Showed excellent tools on the mound and with the bat. Up to 82 on the mound with a balanced delivery and good arm speed. Good run on FB to arm side, solid CB/CH combo and good projection. Loose, smooth swing at the plate, launched a mammoth ground rule double to the opposite field in game. Legitimate strength off the barrel.

Sal Frelick  SS - 2018 - Lexington, MA

Was impressive on both sides of the ball, showing smooth, easy defensive actions with a quick release and good arm strength, topping at 81 MPH across the infield. Plus runner, posting a 6.60 60 yard dash. Also swung it well, squaring the ball up consistently and driving it on a line to all parts of the field.

Jack Ryan  RHP - 2018 - Briarcliff Manor, NY

Showed excellent arm strength and projectable tools both offensively and defensively. Threw 86 MPH across the infield, fields cleanly and has quick, easy release with obvious arm strength. Has a lofted, easy swing at the plate with good contact ability and good power projection. Up to 82 MPH on the mound with sharp, deceptive curveball as well.

Cabot Maher  OF - 2018 - Barrington, RI

Strong, solid build with athleticism throughout body. Has big strength off the barrel when hitting, created by quality bat speed and muscular strength in swing. Compact, easy delivery with good repeatability and arm speed in motion. Throws from extended 3/4 slot with good downhill plane and lots of natural sinking/running action on fastball. Excellent overall hitting mechanics, showing big leg lift with synchronized barrel tip and fires hands into swing generating excellent bat speed and loft. Consistently drove the ball into the air and will have big time power as he continues to develop physically. Very projectable hit/power tools.

Evan Sleight  OF - 2019 - Framingham, MA
Virginia

Mature build for such a young player. Turned it on when it came game time, lighting up the gaps on multiple occasions with great bat speed. Also covered tremendous amount of ground in the outfield and had quick actions behind the plate.

Jackson Emus  RHP - 2019 - Clinton, MA

Long, lanky frame with long limbs and excellent physical projection. Repeats mechanics well into easy, smooth delivery that projects well for added velocity as he continues to strengthen physique. Fastball already up to 81 with more coming, low 3/4 with excellent extension and hard running life to arm side. Very good rhythm and tempo, projects very well.
