Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League Top Prospect List (20)

The Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League continued to draw a solid group of prospects from across the country, with many underclassmen making the trip to New York to play in the competitive summer league.

Dan Jagiello (LIU Post) certainly turned some heads this summer with a fastball up into the mid-90s, but it was Anthony Alicki (Bridgeport) who took home the Pitcher of the Year award. Alicki’s seven wins led the Hamptons League and he helped pace the Shelter Island Bucks to a regular season best 27-14 record. Fellow Shelter Island Buck, outfielder Eddie Haus (St. Mary’s), garnered the Player of the Year award and he helped the team win their first league championship with a two-game sweep over the Westhampton Aviators.

TOP 10 PROSPECTS

1. Dan Jagiello, rhp, Riverhead (LIU Post/JR in 2016)
After predominately working out of the bullpen in a stellar freshman campaign, Jagiello made the transition to the starting rotation for LIU-Post this past spring. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound righty acquitted himself well in the new role, striking out a team-high 61 batters in his 57 2/3 innings pitched. This summer Jagiello continued to start and he continued to impress. While he only threw 22 1/3 innings for the Riverhead Tomcats (before being a late season roster addition to the Cape Cod League), Jagiello turned plenty of heads out on Long Island thanks to a fastball that touches 96 in short stints, a solid slider and a developing changeup. With a solid cameo for the Bourne Braves, Jagiello has certainly put himself on the map as a Division II prospect to watch this spring.
