2016 Top Prospects

Spencer Van Scoyoc  LHP - 2016 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Arizona State

Van Scoyoc was his normal 86-88 mph with a killer curveball and advanced pitchability on the mound while retiring 12 straight hitters, seven on strikeouts. He also took the best batting practice of the event to emphasize his two-way talents.

Keaton Winn  RHP - 2016 - Ollie, IA
Mississippi State/Iowa Western CC

Winn took a nice step forward with his raw stuff, pitching in the 89-92 mph range on a sunny and warm Sunday after working at 87-89 most of the spring. His mid-70's curveball and sinking change up are solid secondary pitches.

Kyle Crowl  MIF - 2016 - Council Bluffs, IA
Iowa

Crowl continues to improve every time we see him play. He stood out at shortstop in the games defensively, ran 6.71 and made some nice adjustments at the plate as well.

Jim Jarecki  RHP - 2016 - New Berlin, WI
Valparaiso

Bradley is getting itself a very promising right hander who has the potential to develop into a high draft pick in 2019. The 6-7/225 Jarecki pitched in the 87-89 mph range with an easy delivery and his change up was an excellent second pitch.

Ben Norman  OF - 2016 - Des Moines, IA
Iowa

Norman ran a scorching 6.5 in the sixty and showed his athleticism in centerfield as well as at the plate, where his crisp left handed swing produced lots of hard line drive contact.

Connor Kimple  OF - 2016 - Whitefish Bay, WI
Louisiana-Lafayette/South Mountain CC

Kimple is an outstanding natural athlete who at 6-3/215 ran a 6.49 in the 60 and was also up to 90 mph off the mound. He's still raw at the plate but is capable of making hard impact when everything comes together.

Zac Fascia  C - 2016 - Brampton, ON CAN
Purdue/Indian Hills CC

A strong and physical Canadian, Fascia had some of the best arm strength of the event, throwing 83 mph from behind the plate in drills and popping a 1.86. His left handed bat is strong and plays up as well.

Ethan Cummins  SS - 2016 - Mississauga, ON CAN
St. Louis/Chattanooga State Technical CC

Cummins stook out both offensively and defensively as a 6-1/175 shortstop. He looked especially good defensively in the games, where he made a number of difficult plays look easy, and has a strong right handed bat with whippy bat speed.

Cade Warren  RHP - 2016 - Rosebud, MT
Oregon State/Salt Lake CC

Warren is a rare player from Montana and is signed with Salt Lake City CC. He's a primary pitcher who was up to 88 mph on the mound but he's also a two-way prospect as a talented outfielder and athlete.

Bryce Charipar  RHP - 2016 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Ellsworth CC

Charipar is a multi-sport athlete who is busy with running track at present but he has a bright future on the mound. His arm is loose and easy and he was up to 87 mph consistently, with much more in there as he physically matures.

Tyler Roeder  IF - 2016 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Southeastern CC

Roeder did his regular thing with the bat, lining base hits all over the field while competing hard in every at-bat. He's going to hit at the next level and probably out work almost everyone as well.

Max McCay  C - 2016 - Carlisle, IA
Central Methodist College/Kirkwood CC

McCay is a fun player to watch on the field because he so obviously loves to play and compete, especially on defense. That quality and some basic tools and fundamentals will let a catcher play for a while in this game.

2017 Top Prospects

Austin Mihlbauer  LHP - 2017 - Mukwonago, WI
TCU

A TCU commit, Mihlbauer is a polished left hander who has improved his delivery since last viewing and did a notable job of filling up the strike zone with a mid-80's fastball and a sharp breaking curveball.

John Swanda  RHP - 2017 - Des Moines, IA
Nebraska

Swanda stands out on the field with his very athletic build and his easy and graceful actions at shortstop. He showed big arm strength in drills and also threw in the mid-80's off the mound.

Ben Probst  RHP - 2017 - Urbandale, IA
Iowa

Probst was very impressive on the mound, sitting comfortably in the 87-89 mph area and pounding the strike zone comfortably with a three-pitch mix. He's someone to pay very close attention to over the next year.

Max Meyer  RHP - 2017 - Woodbury, MN
Minnesota

Meyer both looked good athletically and performed very well in the games. He went 3-3 one game with a triple and went into pitch late in the game and came out firing 88 mph fastballs.

Zach Nogalski  OF - 2017 - Milwaukee, WI
Wisconsin-Milwaukee

Nogalski is a very nice all around athlete who runs a 6.7 sixty, has a strong outfield throwing arm and swings the bat well. He's very projectable and will keep getting better as he gets stronger.

Thomas Larson  OF - 2017 - Joliet, IL
Parkland College

Larson is a quick twitch athlete who looked good in all phases of the game. He really attacks the ball aggressively at the plate and generates very good raw bat speed.

Patrick Sisk  3B - 2017 - Fox Point, WI
Chattahoochee Valley CC

Sisk is extra strong and that strength really translates well into bat speed and power potential at the plate. He should continue to develop offensively as he sees more good pitching.

Griffin Doersching  1B - 2017 - Greendale, WI
Northern Kentucky

Doerching is going to hit plenty of home runs over the balance of his career with his strong and loose right handed swing. He has nice barrel control for his approach and shows good balance in his swing.

Ryan Bader  LHP - 2017 - Mukwonago, WI
Northwestern

Bader, who is a Northwestern commit, is a very polished southpaw who fills the strike zone up with a solid three-pitch mix, including an 84 mph fastball, a curveball and a slider. He's going to keep getting better physically and already knows how to pitch at a high level.

Connor Schultz  RHP - 2017 - Cedar Falls, IA
Butler

Schultz shows plenty of athleticism for his size and projects well physically. He pitched in the mid-80's with nice running life down in the zone while also throwing a promising curveball and change up.

Joel Thompson  C - 2017 - Council Bluffs, IA
Kirkwood CC

Thompson is an extra strong junior catcher who has power in his game, both in his throwing arm behind the plate and in his right handed swing. He's also a very good runner for a big catcher at 7.1 in the sixty.

Josue Sanchez  C - 2017 - Bayamon, PR
Uncommitted

We've seen Sanchez play in his native Puerto Rico and he was solid in Cedar Rapids, too. He has a short and quick high average approach at the plate and is quick and agile on defense behind the plate.

Gregory Bennett  MIF - 2017 - Peosta, IA
Middle Tennessee State/Iowa Western CC

Bennett is just a solid all around player who can do a bit of everything on the field, including run a 6.65, make all the plays in the middle of the infield and even touch the mid-80's off the mound.

Lyle Fini  C - 2017 - West Des Mones, IA
Iowa Central CC

Fini is an extra strong 6-0/215 athlete with good athleticism. He especially stood out with the bat with a loose powerful swing and ability to drive the ball in the gaps.

Owen Jansen  SS - 2017 - Oakville, ON CAN
Purdue

Jansen is a 6.8 runner who not only is a good defender in the middle of the field, he also swings a good bat and made consistent hard line drive contact. He was one of many talented Canadians at the event.

Bryce Simon  OF - 2017 - Cascade, IA
Morehead State/Southeastern CC

Simon's bat should come as he gets stronger but he is already a very good defensive centerfielder with 6.7 speed. His full out diving catch in the left centerfield alley Sunday might have been the best defensive play of the weekend.

Anthony Alepra  RHP - 2017 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Northwestern

Alepra is an athletic and smooth armed right hander who sits in the mid-80's with lots of velocity projectability. He also throws both a curveball and a slider.

William Rodruck  OF - 2017 - West Des Moines, IA
Kirkwood CC

Rodruck is a good all around athlete for a catcher who runs a 6.9 sixty and has a strong throwing arm to go with it. He's a polished right handed hitter with a simple and efficient high average hitting approach at the plate.

Jordan Wendel  C - 2017 - Schaller, IA
Butler

Wendel is a strong and mature athlete who has all the tools to catch at the next level excel on defense. He generates plenty of raw bat speed from the right side on offense and has power potential.

2018 Top Prospects

Brayden Frazier  IF - 2018 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Iowa

Frazier has always stood out with his right handed bat and did so again this weekend, with consistent hard line drive contact. But his athleticism continues to move forward as well and he ran a 6.8 sixty and threw 89 from shortstop during drills.

Luke Patzner  RHP - 2018 - Urbandale, IA
Heartland CC

Patzer is a nice looking athlete at 6-3/195 and projects very well physically. He topped out at 88 mph on his fastball from an easy and low effort arm action and will continue to add velocity as he gets stronger.

Uncommitted

Kies only weighs 145 pounds but he showed the beginnings of some real present bat speed and really showed off his speed with a 6.6 sixty.

Nic McCay  RHP - 2018 - Carlisle, IA
South Dakota State

McCay has lots of potential on the mound, showing a fastball that topped out at 84 mph and a good feel for his curveball.

2019 Top Prospects

Harrison Cook  RHP - 2019 - Solon, IA
Kentucky

Cook is a slender 6-4/155 freshman but his arm is loose and easy and he's already throwing 84-86 mph with a good idea where the ball is going. This is a young arm that is going to be fun to watch develop over the next three years.

Kameron Laskowski  C - 2019 - Sussex, WI
Madison College

Laskowksi is a promising young athlete who runs a 6.9 sixty and has some quickness and developing young arm strength behind the plate.

2020 Top Prospects

Andrue Henry  1B - 2020 - Dubuque, IA
Kirkwood CC

The impressive thing about Henry was his maturity in the batter's box for an 8th grader. He stepped in against TCU commit and senior Austin Mihlbauer, who had just struck out 7 straight hitters, and spanked a clean single into left field. He had other quality at-bats against older pitchers, too.
