Magliozzi on the Mound for NYY

8/2/2010 8:24:41 AM

Aflac All-American RHP John Magliozzi retired the Royals in the bottom of the 5th inning as the Yankees retained their 2-1 lead.  Magliozzi pitched in the 90-94 mph range with his fastball with his customary deceptive 80 mph change up.  Magliozzi tends to lower his release point a bit on his change up but it is a very effective pitch with very good late life down in the zone.  The diminutive right hander still needs work on a soft curveball.

3B Connor Castellano did hit a double off Magliozzi up the left centerfield alley with 2 out but was promptly picked off second to end the inning.
