6-6 RHP ran FB up to 96-97 with easy arm stroke; still new to pitching, made + strikes developing a SL; 3-1, 1.60 as starter/closer

Impressive tools, but nagging hip flexor hurt production (.228-0-8, 57 AB); big RF arm, + speed, emerging raw power; hard-nosed

11. SHAWN ARMSTRONG, rhp, Morehead City Marlins (East Carolina/SO)
Got much-needed IP this summer, went 4-3, 2.25 (64 IP/72 SO); FB up to 94, but tends to lose velo quickly, secondary stuff erratic
12. TAYLOR BLACK, ss, Columbia Blowfish (Kentucky/SR)
Limited shot to showcase talent, arrived late/left early (hurt hand); ++ arm at SS, made plays in hole; 28 SB in 23 G with 6.5 speed
13. THOMAS GIRDWOOD, rhp, Morehead City Marlins (Elon/SR)
Twins’ unsigned 15th-rounder remains an enigma; unhittable at times (19 BB/34 SO, .131 OBA) with ++ FB/+ SL, but very hot/cold
14. JOHN CORNLEY, rhp, Outer Banks Daredevils (Wofford/SR)
Struggled badly as starter in spring, velo in mid-80s; different animal as a closer, both 2009/2010 in CPL, moving FB up to 95, ++ SL

Huge player, put on massive power show at league ASG; much better hitter than 2009, better contact; surprisingly agile around bag

Most effective LHP in league (7-2, 1.86, 53 IP/14 BB/70 SO); lacks pretty arm action, but very steady with 89-92 FB, hammer CU

Turned down $150K from Dodgers to return to JC; Pilots No. 1 starter (46 IP/57), FB peaks at 92, ++ CH, SL has bite, inconsistent

Key in Owls’ run to 2 straight league titles; .307-5-30 this summer, 3 HR in playoffs; lacks pro frame, SO too much, but all tools play

Tended to lose effectiveness after 3-4 IP as starter, but dominant out of pen (2-2, 3.21, 48 IP/76 SO); + 2-pitch mix: 92-93 FB, SL

Throws from a variety of angles, stuff inconsistent but electric when throws strikes, tough to barrel up; FB at 88-92, ++ 2-plane SL
30. BEN WHITE, rhp, Morehead City Marlins (Temple/SR)
Suffered poor JR year, but found groove in summer (57 IP/18 BB/74 SO); max effort/aggressive but pounds zone with 89-92 FB/CU
31. JACOB WILSON, 3b/ss, Asheboro Copperheads (Memphis/JR)
Hit .284-7-25, selected to ASG as SS; can pick it, + arm, but lacks range to remain at SS in long run; may lack size/raw power for 3B
32. MICHAEL WHITE, rhp, Martinsville Mustangs (SIGNED/Brewers)
Projectable 6-6/180 frame; steady FB in 88-92 range, CU emerging; modest summer success (2-1, 5.01), still signed with Brewers
33. BRAD McALLISTER, rhp, Morehead City Marlins (Barry, Fla./JR)
Lacks raw stuff with high-80s FB, but + CH, advanced approach/demeanor separates him; works quickly, keeps hitters off balance
34. MICHAEL LANG, of, Outer Banks Daredevils (Rutgers/SR)
Skills still trying to catch up to ++ tools (quick-twitch actions, 6.5 speed, + arm); funky swing, but gets + carry when barrels up balls
35. ALEX LOFTIN, rhp, Edenton Steamers (Akron/JR)
Began summer in Cape Cod, went on to post 5-1, 2.20 mark for Steamers; FB 89-92, threw slow CU/hard SL for strikes; + competes

Tools a little short, but a true ball player, ++ intangibles; adequate at plate (.305-2-16), SS in college, comfort level at 3B, 2B in pros

Midweek starter as FR for CWS champs, became staff ace this summer (3-3, 1.18); FB 88-90, throws CH, 2 break balls for strikes

NAIA product, used summer success (1-1, 2.05, 22 IP/30 SO) to walk-on at OSU; huge frame (6-5/245), hitters swung thru 93 FB

Recorded fastest 60 at ASG (6.59), has speed to steal more bags than 15, gets + jumps on balls in CF; compact swing, gap power
