HAVE YOUR SAY: Ask questions about the power rankings

Some players began the season on an incredibly high note, but have been unable to establish consistency. Meanwhile, others have established themselves as elite players the first month of the college baseball season.

First things first, as South Carolina coach Ray Tanner continues to lead the head coach category in the latest Perfect Game power rankings. He's, of course, followed by Florida's Kevin O'Sullivan and Stanford's Mark Marquess.

In the starting pitcher category, South Carolina's Michael Roth has ascended to the top spot following another stellar showing against Clemson, while San Francisco's Kyle Zimmer and Stanford's Mark Appel are hot on his heels.

In terms of relief pitchers, Mississippi State's Caleb Reed continues to lead the way, while hard-throwing Florida right-hander Austin Maddox is on the verge of taking over. Rice's J.T. Chargois was one of two relievers who entered this week's rankings.

At the catcher position, Florida's Mike Zunino continues to lead the way in the midst of an incredible campaign both offensively and defensively. Meanwhile, Notre Dame's Joe Hudson and N.C. State's Danny Canela are new entrants this week.

At first base, Florida State's Jayce Boyd is having an incredible campaign and moved to the top. Meanwhile, hot-hitting LSU slugger Mason Katz and Hofstra's Jared Hammer entered.

In the middle infield, California's Tony Renda is still on a hot streak, while Arizona State's Deven Marrero and Joey DeMichele, along with Purdue's Eric Charles, are hot on his heels. There were two new entrants at this position.

At third base, Clemson third baseman Richie Shaffer is having a big-time campaign and is red-hot right now. He ascended to the top spot, while San Diego's Kris Bryant and North Carolina's Colin Moran are hot on his heels.

Lastly, in the outfield, it doesn't get much better than the duo of Florida State's James Ramsey and Texas A&M's Tyler Naquin. Meanwhile, Arizona's Robert Refsnyder was one of three players that entered the newest outfield rankings.

The PG power rankings are released each week of the regular season, and once to complete the 2012 campaign.
