Slugger Dominates Postseason

Louisville Slugger has had a recognizable mark on the game of baseball for over 120 years. Their bats have become as iconic as the stars that have swung them, including legendary figures that line their Museum and Factory halls such as Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Ken Griffey Jr. and Derek Jeter.

In this year's World Series, as detailed in a press release below, two-thirds of the San Francisco Giants hitters swung a Louisville Slugger bat, including 2004 PG All-American and National League MVP candidate Buster Posey.

In May of 2012, Perfect Game proudly aligned themselves with Louisville Slugger to become the official bat at Perfect Game showcase and tournament events.

Louisville Slugger has recognized the importance of getting their bats into the hands of young players, and there are no better venues to do so than through these events. Since the partnership began, Slugger has attended 23 of 27 events. This includes a very successful activation presence at the recently completed 2012 WWBA World Championship in which they allowed young hitters to take their hacks with their bats in an inflatable batting practice cage.

With the anticipated introduction of their newest product, the revolutionary MLB Prime bat, Louisville Slugger has also agreed to honor nine hitters from select Perfect Game tournament events that are named to the event's All-Tournament Team. The first occurred at the inaugural Perfect Game World Series in late July, and the most recent happened at the aforementioned WWBA World Championship.

Slugger will also unveil new BBCOR bats in the near future. In addition to the use of these bats at the college level, this inclusion will be of great interest to players that participate in Perfect Game's BCS Finals tournament events that are not restricted to wood bats.

Keep an eye out for Louisville Slugger's increasing presence at Perfect Game events moving forward and the game of baseball as a whole.

LOUISVILLE, KY (October 31, 2012) Louisville Slugger®, Major League Baseball’s number one bat in the regular season, was also baseball’s number one bat in the 2012 Postseason. More hitters on MLB® playoff teams chose bats from professional baseball’s most experienced and leading bat maker than from any other bat company.

Louisville Slugger went to the plate with 60 percent of the hitters on the eight playoff teams. Two-thirds of the hitters on the World Series Champion San Francisco Giants™ trusted Louisville Slugger ash and maple.

“Louisville Slugger selects the highest grade timber and uses the latest technology to create baseball’s premier bats,” said the company’s director of professional baseball, Chuck Schupp. “Veneer maple, Amish ash, vacuum dried wood, 360-degree compression, all combine to create the hardest finishes in the game.”

Louisville Slugger, founded in 1884, has participated in more Postseasons than all other bat makers combined. The company has made bats for every World Series played, starting with the first one in 1903.

“Through the decades and today in 2012, MLB players have complete confidence in Louisville Slugger,” Schupp said. “First and foremost, we provide great customer service. We take care of players who swing Louisville Slugger bats. We ensure they have the very best timber and service. We work with each player to build their bats to their exact specs.”

The company is already gearing up for the start of the next MLB season with some big changes. Spring training 2013 will be yet another milestone for Slugger. Be watching to see what’s new from the #1 Bat in MLB on Opening Day!
