Not much has changed for Mark Appel since this time last year. In fact, there probably are far fewer question marks about his game than there were entering last spring. Scouts had questions as to whether Appel was ever going to consistently miss bats, and he passed that test with flying colors. To be fair, he had already passed that test in the Cape Cod League in his dominant stint there in 2011, but the question still seemed to persist. But, the only thing different now about the Stanford right-handed is that he’s a year older. He absolutely remains one of the most serious candidates to be the number one overall selection in June.
