This week’s 16 team NHSI Tournament in Cary, N.C. features six 2012 Perfect Game All-Americans in outfielder Austin Meadows, right handed pitcher Jordan Sheffield, left handed pitcher Stephen Gonzalves and a trio of catchers in Jeremy Martinez, Nick Ciuffo and Chris Okey. There are also other potential high 2013 draft picks such as third baseman Ryan McMahon, first basemen and outfielders Nick Longhi and Cody Bellinger, along with top 2014 prospects left handed pitcher Justus Sheffield, third baseman Jack Flaherty, first baseman and outfielder Braxton Davidson and right handed pitcher Dylan Cease.

That kind of talent level makes it obvious why the event, held at the USA Baseball Complex, is one of the most heavily scouted events of the spring and among the scouts watching will be Perfect Game’s Allan Simpson and Frankie Piliere.

An argument could be made that no player could benefit more from a good showing than Chris Okey.
