Marquee series: VU at South Carolina

Kendall Rogers

Vanderbilt has been incredibly consistent this spring, and barring a huge surprise, likely will be a top eight national seed in the NCAA postseason come June.

The Commodores are riding a six-game winning streak, but that's only the tip of the iceberg into their impressive resume. Furthermore, the 'Dores are 19-2 in the Southeastern Conference, 2 1/2 games ahead of second-place LSU, and are 39-6 overall.

While the 'Dores would need to lose a national seed down the stretch, their opponent this weekend, South Carolina, is fighting for one of the eight elusive seeds down the stretch.

South Carolina has been impressive the past couple of weekends. It started with a home series sweep over Kentucky, and continued last weekend with a surprising road series win over LSU. The Gamecocks continue to improve their overall resume, and sit fourth in the SEC right now with a 13-8 conference mark, along with a 33-12 overall record.

We take an inside look at the PG National Series of the Week with analysis and scouting reports on starting pitching, bullpen, offense and defense matchups. Meanwhile, we also breakdown the top prospects to watch this weekend.
