Mike Mayers could make a case for being one of the more under-discussed players in the country. Scouts know about him, as do the people who follow the draft closely, but he’s not written about as much as other college pitchers that he seems to be clearly equal to or better. Now, this isn’t to say that Mayers is a first round prospect; he isn’t. But, since last summer, he’s consistently held his stock as top three round pitching prospect. And, his began with what was not the most impressive statistical performance in the Cape Cod League last summer, but one that left evaluators highly impressed nonetheless.
