The first time I saw Florida high school righthanded pitcher Cobi Johnson was in early October, 2012, at the WWBA Underclass World Championship in Fort Myers, Fla. Johnson, who was just starting his junior year at Mitchell High School near Tampa and weighed in at maybe 6-foot-2, 160-pounds, was pitching for FTB Chandler at the Stadium Field at Terry Park.

After watching Johnson throw for a couple of innings, I remarked to the young Perfect Game scout working the game, “If you ever wanted to know, that’s what a future first round draft pick is supposed to look like when he’s 16 years old."
