CARTERSVILLE, Ga. - Brendon Davis, the No. 27 ranked high school prospect in the 2015 class and No. 1 ranked third baseman, recently decided he will take his talents to Cal State Fullerton, an elite college baseball program currently ranked third in the nation.

“Cal State Fullerton has been my dream school since forever,” said Davis. “My dad went there and that’s where I grew up watching baseball so I’ve always wanted to go there.”

The process was a long one for the California native, who said he wanted to take his time and make sure he found the right spot. He was able to narrow his search down right away by wanting to stay somewhat close to home.

“The whole time I was thinking West Coast, like UCLA, just kinda close to home.”

When Davis visited Cal State Fullerton, this time not as a fan and son of a men’s basketball alumnus, but as a perspective student-athlete, a few things sold him on making his choice.

“The fit there was just different from all the other colleges,” Davis said. “I felt like it had more of a pro atmosphere than anything, and that’s what I wanted. A lot of the pro guys go back and workout with the college guys and you get a lot of different perspectives on the game.”

The 6-foot-4 third baseman started making noise on the college baseball radar in 2012 as a new player in the GBG (Garciaparra Baseball Group) organization in the summer of 2012.

“I wasn’t expecting anything cause I was kinda new to the whole process, but I did one Perfect Game tournament and when I got home that week I got a letter from USC (University of Southern California) and I was in shock,” Davis recalled. “Before I went to a Perfect Game event I didn’t have many colleges looking at me and it’s crazy because right after I went to one the letters started pouring in, so it was pretty cool.”

Davis has attended six Perfect Game events, including the 2013 PG Underclass All-American Games in San Diego, Calif.
