The perfect sign of a great team is its ability to respond to adversity. Florida State lost the series opener to Clemson over the weekend, but stormed back with a pair of wins on Saturday to sweep the doubleheader and take the series. For that and more, the Seminoles remain atop the Perfect Game College Top 25 for a second-straight week.
While the Seminoles stayed sharp on the road against the Tigers, much of the rest of the top five teams weren't so lucky. Virginia moved up a spot after going 3-1 for the week, including 1-1 against Miami, with the series finale coming Monday, while Vanderbilt dropped two of three to Mississippi State, South Carolina lost a road series to Kentucky and Oregon State lost a surprising home series to Arizona State. South Carolina dropped three spots from No. 2 to No. 4, Vandy dropped from No. 4 to No. 6, and Oregon State fell from No. 5 to No. 7.
Oregon remains No. 8 in the latest rankings after taking care of Utah at home, while LSU and Rice entered the top 10 after successful weekends against Georgia and Florida Atlantic, respectively.
Elsewhere in the rankings, the Magnolia State duo of Mississippi State and Ole Miss made some good strides in the latest rankings. The Bulldogs climbed from No. 17 to No. 13 after taking two of three from the Commodores, while the Rebels had yet another good weekend, improving to 21-4 overall and climbing from No. 24 to No. 16. Meanwhile, Kentucky, by virtue of the home series win over South Carolina, improved from No. 23 to No. 17, while Houston, which swept a good College of Charleston club over the weekend, vaulted from No. 21 to No. 15 after improving to 19-4.
Sam Houston State, which was swept by Central Arkansas, and San Diego, which lost a home series to Loyola Marymount, dropped from the rankings, while Auburn and UNLV entered at No's 24 and 25, respectively, after successful weekends.
The Perfect Game College Top 25 is released every Monday morning during the season.
