Power hitting shortstops are the thoroughbreds of baseball prospects. Highly sought after and also saddled with an inherent risk that physical development may obscure their highly valuable profile, the rare few prospects who come out the other side as big league shortstops who have home run power are some of the most valuable assets a Major League organization can posses.

With this in mind, it is a near certainty that if Josh Morgan is interested in beginning his professional baseball career this summer, rather than joining the defending national champions at UCLA, he will be selected in the top three rounds.
