After opening the season as Washington state's lone representative in the National Top 50, Puyallup (Wash.) not only lived up to the lofty expectations for in-state dominance, they exceeded them. The Vikings capped off a perfect 28-0 season by capturing the 4A state championship over the weekend, becoming the first team since 2006 to run the table in Washington's largest classification. The past two teams to do so were Jackson in 2006 and South Kitsap in 1996, both teams were led by future Major Leaguers in Travis Snider and Willie Bloomquist respectively. Puyallup's perfect season lands them at No. 4 in this week's updated poll, the highest a team from the northwest region has been ranked in any PG National poll during the past four years.

Lambert (Ga.) knocked off No. 21 Milton in three games to capture the 6A state championship this week. Lambert cemented their place as a top five team in the final top 100 poll which will be release in two weeks, landing at No. 3 this week. Georgia's other top 50 representatives include: No. 38 Whitewater and No. 47 Parkview.

San Diego's open division playoffs featured a pair of favorites getting sent to the loser's bracket early on. Top seeded and previously No. 2 Rancho Bernardo dropped the opener before winning their next two. Previous No. 13 Cathedral Catholic lost their second game before winning the third to set up an elimination game meeting between the two perennial powerhouses this week which will pit Nos. 6 and 14 against one another.

California's Southern Section playoffs finally produced it's traditional smattering of upsets this past week, which saw two top 10 representatives and four of the top 20 ranked teams in the nation suffer an early end to their season. No. 12 JSerra is now the top ranked team from the Southern Section and are the favorite as they enter the final four. Texas' gauntlet playoff has also dashed the dreams of several national powerhouses, though No. 2 Pearland is one series away from a trip to Round Rock for the final four and is the state's top ranked representative. The two hotbed states are relatively underrepresented in this week's poll thanks to the recent upsets, but as champions emerge and the final poll expands to 100 several of the recent upset victims will return to the rankings.

New additions this week include: No. 16 Santa Margarita (Calif.), No. 17 Sumter (SC), No. 19 Tampa Jesuit (Fla.), No. 28 Foothill (Calif.), No. 29 Spanish Fort (Fla.), No. 36 Flower Mound (Texas) and No. 50 Stone Bridge (Va.).
