Will Gibson (2015 - Eufaula, AL) had two hits for the Cardinal team in game 1. He showed good patience at the plate and demonstrated a strong contact tool. Will is mainly a RHP who shows good ball movement on his fastball with a good feel for his slider and change up.

Royal vs. White Highlights

Scott Smith (2015 - Sharpsburg, GA) was effective with a deceptive delivery and quick arm.  His fastball was 80-83 MPH, topping out at 85, with a 73 MPH slider and change-up at 66 MPH.  Standing at 6'6" tall, Smith has a projectable body that will be interesting to watch develop.

David Burrow (2015 - Suwanee, GA) had two hits in the game to prove that he can really swing the bat.  He has a compact stroke, keeps his hands inside the ball and barrels balls all over the field.  Burrow could be labeled as a gamer because of how he thrived in the live game situation.

Elijah Willingham (2015 - Hiram, GA) showed some feel for a curveball, which was effective especially to right handed hitters.  It is a strikeout pitch with good shape and 1/7 break.  His fastball topped out at 83 MPH and he also threw a change-up with run and sink.

Brody Wofford (2015 - Rome, GA) swung the bat well and also played good defense at shortstop for the white team.  He reacts to the ball well and has good instincts in the infield.

Will Collins (2015 - Atlanta, GA) has good bat speed and this leads to hard, line drive contact to all fields.  The hit tool is there for Collins, especially for a primary second baseman.

Phillip Pimble (2014 - Bronx, NY) went 2-3 with a double in his team's first game of the showcase.  Pimble creates good leverage in his swing, he has a strong frame and some pop in his bat.

Isaiah Lewis (2015 - Atlanta, GA) has loose hands and a good approach at the plate.  He put a nice swing on the ball to hit a line drive into centerfield in the 6th inning.  Lewis also has tools in the infield and a good feel for the game.

White Team Batting Practice Highlights

5/30/2014

Garrett Wise (2015 - Matthews, NC) showed some juice in his bat during the White Team batting practice.  He makes solid contact with pop in his bat that projects Wise will hit for power in the near future.  Good bat control and quick wrists make him an interesting hitting prospect.

Cole Vann (2015 - Colquitt, GA) also proved to have pop in his bat to go along with solid hitting tools and wrist cock.  Vann is a gap to gap hitter with line drive power that keeps a solid base throughout the swing.

Forbes Elam (2015 - Irmo, SC) hit the ball with power to his pull side and showed good use of his hands in his swing.  With a good frame and hitting tools, Elam has potential to develop into a quality hitter at the next level.

The show put on by Michael Curry (2015 - Gainesville, GA) proved that his spot in the PG Class of 2015 National Rankings is well deserved.  The Georgia commit is currently ranked in the top 100 overall draft prospects for his class, as well as the #1 catcher in the state.  In his BP session, Curry showed plus, plus bat speed while making it look easy.  He has great hands, and made very hard contact while utilizing his lower half.  His strength and hitting tools project for Curry to hit for power and be a middle of the order run producer at the next level.  Whether that next level will be college or pro ball is yet to be determined.

Hunter Green (2015 - Columbus, GA) stayed tall on his back side and made solid contact in batting practice.  He has a short stroke that is quick to the ball, keeping a simple approach at the plate.

Royal Team Batting Practice Highlights

5/30/2014

Tarez Miller (2015 - Milton, GA) showed the ability to really drive the ball to all fields.  He is a big, strong player with good hands and bat speed.  Miller has a balanced swing with plenty of power, showing solid hitting tools in the batting practice session.

The KSU Owls are the hottest team in college baseball, continuing their dominance this afternoon with a first round win over Alabama in the Tallahassee Regional.  While the club is focused on 2014, the team also has a bright future with many talented recruits bound for Kennesaw.  One of these players, Trevor Brown (2015 - Lilburn, GA), had a solid batting practice where he hit line drives and showcased a quick bat.  He has a smooth swing with lift and good wrist cock.

David Burrow (2015 - Suwanee, GA) has polished hitting tools as he looked good at the plate in batting practice.  He creates bat speed and pop with little effort.  Showed power at times, getting good extension out front and driving the baseball with ease.

Orange Team Batting Practice Highlights

5/30/2014

EJ Ranel (2015 - Dacula, GA) had a solid round of batting practice from his wide and open stance.  Ranel has quick wrists and good hands, getting extension in his swing.  The bat speed plays, and even though he starts open, he closes down his stance well to get in a good hitting position.

Yorel James (2015 - Conyers, GA) has incredible bat speed that makes him an interesting prospect at the plate.  He keeps his swing compact, hitting solid line drives to both the pull side and the opposite field.  The ball really flies off his bat and there is a lot of pop in his swing.

Brandon Hill (2015 - Lilburn, GA) is another player on the Orange Team with impressive bat speed and pop.  Hill's explosive swing and great power potential make him an interesting player to keep an eye on throughout the rest of the showcase.

Chase Flores (2015 - Daphne, AL) showed solid hitting tools and a strong ability to stay behind the ball.  He has a simple approach and keeps his swing connected.  Flores keeps his hands quiet and takes a short stride, staying compact to drive the ball in the gaps.

Navy Team Batting Practice Highlights

5/30/2014

Isaiah Lewis (2015 - Atlanta, GA) proved to be a legitimate switch-hitting prospect with tools on both sides of the plate.  He has good bat speed from both the right and left sides.  Lewis keeps a strong base, hits line drives and shows the ability to drive the ball the other way.

Dalton Rone (2017 - Theodore, AL) is an interesting young prospect with solid hitting tools.  He is a lead-off type hitter with a short and quick swing that produces line drives to all fields.  Listed at 5'7" and 135 pounds, Rone has room to grow but shows power potential with good lift and feel for his swing.

Tucker Clark (2015 - Madison, AL) favored the pull side during his batting practice session, using good hands and a strong base.  He keeps a short swing while doing a good job of firing his back side through the baseball and creating bat speed.

Green Team Batting Practice Highlights

5/30/2014

Switch-hitting David Posas (2015 - Valdosta, GA) was especially impressive from the left side of the plate with a short swing and very good bat speed.  He hit hard line drives, keeping his weight back well and exploding through the zone.  Posas projects to hit for power, a gap to gap hitter with an athletic frame and strong lower half.

Jabari Richards (2015 - Fayetteville, GA) made hard contact and showed the ability to keep his hands inside the ball.  Richards has fast hands that create plus bat speed, but he also stays balanced throughout the swing.

Georgia Tech commit Tristin English (2015 - Williamson, GA) showed pop in his bat and a strong ability to drive the ball to the opposite field.  He keeps a strong base, makes solid contact and projects for power as he fills out his lean frame.

Jacob Carlsen (2016 - Lawrenceville, GA) is a big, strong first baseman that shows power potential to the pull side.  His quick hands show promise for Carlsen to develop into serious threat at the plate.

Cardinal Team Batting Practice Highlights

5/30/2014

Tyler Sylvester (2016 - Lithonia, GA) showed good bat speed, loose hands, and strong balance in his swing during the batting practice session.  Sylvester has power potential with a strong frame and room to grow.

Devin Magnum (2015 - Asheville, NC) hit solid line drives to the opposite field, making consistent hard contact and showing pop in his bat.  He has an athletic frame with a short swing that shows bat speed. While Magnum looks to go the other way, he proved that he can also pull the ball with power.

Miles Moore (2015 - Asheville, NC) had an impressive batting practice session where he showed big power potential.  His long arms create lift, and Moore also has a quick bat.  He has a long frame with room to fill out but is already showing strength and the ability to drive the ball.

Luke Fetchko (2016 - Greer, SC) showed solid hitting tools with a short swing that creates solid contact.  His hands work well and he makes good use of his lower body.  His swing is under control with some bat speed and quick wrists.
