2016 Top Prospects

Sammy Pleus  LHP - 2016 - Sugar Land, TX
Blinn College

Pleus cruised through four no-hit innings of work on the mound, striking out 10 hitters while pounding the strike zone with a mid-80's fastball that topped out at 87 mph to go with a low 70's tight spinning curveball. It looked like he could have gone a complete game seven innings with no problem.

Nicholas Dayton  OF - 2016 - Wylie, TX
Uncommitted

Dayton has a nice combination of speed (6.77 in the 60, 4.33 home to first), strength and hitting ability. He's a primary first baseman but there seems to be no reason why he shouldn't be a centerfielder at this level with his tools.

Drake Frix  C - 2016 - Plainville, GA
College of Charleston

Frix already has a verbal commitment to College of Charleston in hand. He showed lots of athletic quickness defensively and with the bat and is very projectable for a catcher at 6-2/185.

Myles A. Campbell  LHP - 2016 - Houston, TX
Blinn College

Campbell is a loose and projectable southpaw whose arms look much longer than what would normally be on a 6-0/175 athlete. He had an easy low effort delivery with a mid-80's fastball that should continue to pick up velocity as he gets stronger.

Brendan Ezell  C - 2016 - Edmond, OK
Uncommitted

Ezell has a good combination of athletic tools. He ran 6.95 in the sixty, popped a 2.03 in drills and showed lots of bat speed and gap power from the right side. The Oklahoma native should keep improving as he gets stronger and older.

Connor Prado  RHP - 2016 - Roanoke, TX
Uncommitted

Prado is a solid all around athlete on both sides of the ball. He has some effort to his delivery that he will need to tone down for better command but topped out at 87 mph with a hard spinning curveball and developing change up.

Tim Bechtold  OF - 2016 - Copperas Cove, TX
Uncommitted

Bechtold put on a show in games both with his outfield defense, which featured multiple diving catches, and his bat, which produced consistent quality at bats and gap power. He ran 6.94 with an 88 mph outfield arm.

Parker Dunn  OF - 2016 - Owasso, OK
Cowley County CC

Dunn plays for one of the top high school programs in the country at Owasso HS in Oklahoma and it shows in his polish and skills on the field. He has a very nice left handed swing with some lift and power along with being a 7.0 runner.

Grant McDaniel  OF - 2016 - Victoria, TX
San Jacinto CC

McDaniel has good strength on his compact 5-8/175 frame and has a good swing with an advanced ability to use his hands and make swing adjustments while maintaining his bat speed. He's also a 6.81 runner.

Caleb Armstrong  RHP - 2016 - Monroe, LA
Louisiana-Lafayette

Armstrong is a good all around athlete who stood out on both sides of the ball. He's a 6.8 runner with good actions at shortstop and a solid right handed swing and topped out at 84 mph with good secondary stuff as a primary pitcher.

Logan Berlof  IF - 2016 - McKinney, TX
Lamar/Panola College

Berlof has a nice swing and bat speed for a young middle infielder and showed his gap power by driving two doubles up the gaps in Sunday's game. He's a 7.1 runner who profiles at second base at the next level.

Jaxx Groshans  C - 2016 - Magnolia, TX
Kansas

Groshans is listed as a primary catcher but did drills as an outfielder and showed his athleticism well, running 7.0 and throwing 85 mph from the outfield. He's a right handed hitter with good bat speed and power potential at the plate.

2017 Top Prospects

Ronald Washington  OF - 2017 - Houston, TX
Pittsburgh

Washington did something few high school players of any class are able to do in BP, hitting 400' home runs to left field, center field and right field all in the same round. He also hit a long game home run. Continuing to develop his game swing approach against off-speed pitches remains his primary focus.

Jacob Wyeth  C - 2017 - Austin, TX
Baylor

Wyeth is an extra strong sophomore at 6-2/215 but he has some quickness and looseness to go with all that strength. He showed big arm strength behind the plate to go with a 1.99 pop time and put on a show in batting practice with multiple home runs. The Texas native also went 3-3 in one of the games.

Jonathan Windham  3B - 2017 - Spring, TX
Louisiana-Lafayette

Windham still has lots of filling out to do at 6-3/170 but he already has present bat speed from a loose, extended right handed swing and the ball comes off his barrel very well. The sophomore already has a verbal commitment to Louisiana Tech.

Matthew Cooper  OF - 2017 - Virginia Beach, VA
Clemson

The 6-2/215 Cooper had perhaps the most impressive swing of the showcase, a monster home run to straight away centerfield that clanged off the flag pole and back onto the field. He's a 6.90 runner with big arm strength as well.

Dillon Nesbit  C - 2017 - Spring, TX
Angelina College

Nesbit not only posted showcase best marks in drills at 79 mph from behind the plate and 1.89 on his pop time, he also showed some of the best power at the event despite having a young 5-11/170 build. The sophomore has lots of tools to develop and lots of time to do so.

Aaron Walters  C - 2017 - Kerrville, TX
Texas A&M

Walters has the making of a quality two-way prospect. He was an athletic receiver behind the plate defensively and had a nice left handed swing with some present bat speed and power potential. He also topped out at 86 mph with a good curveball in a short appearance on the mound.

Evan Sack  3B - 2017 - Houston, TX
McLennan CC

Sack is another sophomore with a big and projectable build at 6-2/187. He had a nice balance of tools with right handed bat speed, 7.2 speed in the sixty and solid infield arm strength, all of which should continue to improve.

Zachary Rumfield  RHP - 2017 - Robstown, TX
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi

Rumfield is a young catcher who already has strong fundamentals both hitting and in his receiving and throwing behind the plate. He's going to keep getting better as he adds strength to his 5-10/150 frame.

Tajh Bishop  SS - 2017 - Ashdown, AR
Uncommitted

Bishop is a loose and projectable quick-twitch athlete who swung the bat very well in games and showed gap power. Although he only topped out at 79 mph on the mound, he had a fast arm that projects well and threw one of the best curveballs we saw all weekend.

2018 Top Prospects

Jordan Groshans  SS - 2018 - Magnolia, TX
Kansas

Groshans is going to be an interesting young freshman to watch develop. He's already 6-2/185 and very strong and athletic for his age. He topped out at 83 mph on the mound and 85 across the diamond, along with taking one of the better BP sessions of the event.

Javan Smitherman  RHP - 2018 - Kilgore, TX
Dallas Baptist

Smitherman showed lots of polish on the mound to go with quality present stuff for a freshman. He topped out at 83 mph from a deceptive high energy delivery and liberally mixed in a tight breaking ball from multiple arm slots and a nice change up.

Treet Williams  C - 2018 - Tomball, TX
Dallas Baptist

Williams is a good young athlete who showed lots of quickness and developing skills behind the plate defensively. He's a switch-hitter with a more developed swing and bat speed from the left side.
