2015 Top Prospects

Richard Felix  RHP - 2015 - La Puente, CA
Uncommitted

With impressive arm strength from a deceptive, lower three quarters arm slot; Felix's fastball worked in the 80-85 range with lots of arm side life and the potential to get lots of ground balls at the next level due to heaviness. He mixed in a cutter with solid horizontal life, as well as a solid slider with good tilting action.

2016 Top Prospects

Brock Daugherty  RHP - 2016 - Valley Center, CA
Army

Daugherty is projectable throughout his frame and will continue to add strength to his body. In addition to that projection, he's already very impressive on the mound, topping at 87 and working in the mid 80's with good life on the fastball. He attacks hitters with authority and comes after them with a quality two-pitch mix that he commands well.

Dylan Ross  RHP - 2016 - Malibu, CA
Willamette University

Ross showed excellent tools both on the mound and with the bat, making him one of the more intriguing two-way prospects in this event. He got up to 85 MPH on the mound with a clean arm action, also turning over a quality, deceptive changeup. He's very short and quick to the ball when hitting as well, with jump off the barrel to all fields and projectable power.

Jake Baer  MIF - 2016 - West Hills, CA
Loyola Marymount

From a well-built and strong frame, Baer matches his physical strength with the arm strength and strength off the barrel needed to be a high-level baseball prospect. He threw an excellent 89 MPH across the infield, ran well with a 7.03 seconds 60 yard dash, and turns the barrel well when hitting with strength and quickness, giving him a nicely rounded profile.

Brett Long  SS - 2016 - Rancho Santa Margarita, CA
Uncommitted

Long's arm strength immediately stands out, throwing 85 MPH from the OF and touching 82 both across the infield and on the mound, where he showed solid strike-throwing ability and a solid curveball as well. He turns the barrel well when hitting, showing bat speed and quickness through the zone, generating solid strength off the barrel to all fields.

Jordan Hollins  OF - 2016 - Stone Mountain, GA
Chipola College

Hollins combines impressive physicality and raw athleticism with a solid package of baseball tools, giving him potentially one of the higher upsides of the event. At 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Hollins is very projectable and his athleticism is put on display with a sub-7 seconds 60 yard dash. Also shows solid line drive strength off the barrel to all fields when hitting.

Fernando Alvidrez  SS - 2016 - Los Angeles, CA
Uncommitted

Alvidrez showed well across three facets of the game, showcasing a quality contact-oriented approach at the plate with good shortness to the ball; quality defensive actions in the middle infield with solid arm strength; and a very impressive showing on the mound. He ran his fastball up to 84 with life and showed a solid slider to round out his arsenal.

Kenneth Carrillo  RHP - 2016 - Montebello, CA
Biola University/Golden West College

With a very lanky frame, Carrillo certainly projects to continue adding strength--and ultimately additional velocity--to his frame and arm. He already works in the low 80's and gets up to 84, and is able to mix in a pair of quality secondary offerings, with both a slider and curveball that he shows he can throw for strikes.

Mark Cobian  SS - 2016 - Los Angeles, CA
Uncommitted

Cobian showed projectable tools both with the glove and with the bat, giving him a very intriguing overall profile. He uses the whole field with a line drive approach when hitting, and will drive the ball even more with added strength. He also shows quality arm strength in the infield, up to 83 MPH clean actions.

Michael Lee  RHP - 2016 - Chino, CA
Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College

Lee has excellent size and projection left on his frame, and certainly projects to add strength and ultimately velocity to what is already a hard, heavy fastball working in the 81-84 range. His arm works well and he shows the ability to both spin a slider and turn over a changeup, giving him a quality three-pitch mix and the command to go with it.

Adam Rubio  C - 2016 - Commerce, CA
Cerritos College

Rubio took of the more impressive BP's of the day, showing a big leg lift trigger with some hip coil to get started into load, but then firing forward into his swing with authority and torque, delivering the bat to the zone with strength and timing. He also caught very well, throwing 78 MPH from behind the plate with a 1.89 pop time.
