2017 Top Prospects

Tyler Gregg  RHP - 2017 - Farmington, AR
Crowder College

Gregg is barely a year off TJ surgery but didn't show it with his raw stuff. He worked in the 87-90 mph range with his fastball and was 74-77 mph with a hard curveball that flashed tight spin. He has some delivery work to do but his arm strength is impressive and should continue to improve as he gets further away from surgery.

Aaron Brooks  RHP - 2017 - Blanchard, OK
Oklahoma

Brooks is an Oklahoma commit with a very projectable 6-2/155 frame and solid present stuff. He topped out at 87 mph and showed a low 70's curveball that had tight spin and some snap to it.

Hunter Koumonduros  C - 2017 - Richmond, TX
Texas A&M International

Koumonduros took the highest graded batting practice of any player at the showcase, showing an aggressive approach with big bat speed and very good barrel control. He showed agility and blocking skills behind the plate in games.

Jackson Saylor  RHP - 2017 - San Antonio, TX
Uncommitted

Saylor has a big and strong 6-2/210 build and works from a slow paced and well controlled delivery. He sat at 85-86 for four innings and topped out at 88 mph from a high 3/4's arm slot and flashed a hard cutter/slider that got off barrels well.

Saul Garza  C - 2017 - Edinburg, TX
Louisiana State/Howard College

Garza is impressive to look at in the uniform at 6-3/215 but has nice quickness and athleticism for his size. That showed on defense and also at the plate, where his swing was short and crisp with lots of power potential.

Ty Michael Dragos  C - 2017 - Humble, TX
Bossier Parish CC

Dragos has a tall and lean 6-2/170 frame that is going to fill out nicely and very nice present physical tools. He threw 79 mph from behind the plate, ran very well for a catcher and showed a loose right handed swing with plenty of bat speed.

Norberto Cervantes  C - 2017 - Laredo, TX
Uncommitted

Cervantes is a strong right handed hitter with sound mechanics and lots of bat speed, especially for a catcher. He's a Prairie View A&M commit who is going to be a good player at the next level.

Nathan Collins  SS - 2017 - Alvin, TX
McNeese State/Vernon College

Collins posted the best bat speed in the Zepp testing and does it with a simple high contact swing that is short and direct. He's a solid athlete in the middle of the field with good arm strength.

Brandon Anderson  RHP - 2017 - Omaha, NE
Neosho County CC

Anderson is an interesting two-way prospect. He was up to 84 mph off the mound but also showed some of the most interesting bat speed and power potential at the event.

Jared Free  OF - 2017 - Frisco, TX
Liberty University

Free is a live bodied athlete who has a chance to really develop as a hitter at the next level. He's aggressive from the left side of the plate and really attacks the ball well with lots of bat speed.

Caleb Bolden  RHP - 2017 - Texarkana, TX
Arkansas/Seminole State College

Bolden showed a nice three-pitch mix on the mound with a low 80's fastball that topped out at 84 mph, a deep breaking curveball with good velocity and a very deceptive changeup that could develop into his best pitch. He filled up the zone with all three pitches.

Justin Elizondo  SS - 2017 - Austin, TX
McLennan CC

Elizondo is a polished right handed hitter who has present bat speed and more to come as he fills out and get stronger. He's a good athlete at third base with plenty of arm strength for the position.

Eric Yarbro  RHP - 2017 - Humble, TX
Uncommitted

Yarbro has a projectable 6-4/175 build and nice athletic actions on the mound. He topped out at 83 mph and showed good feel and tight spin on his curveball while showing a very good feel for pitching. He's going to keep getting better.

Garrett Parcell  SS - 2017 - Salt Lake City, UT
Uncommitted

Parcell's athleticism and speed stood out on defense at shortstop. He's a 6.85 runner who is very quick to the ball and made a number of tough plays in the hole successfully.

2018 Top Prospects

Brandon Birdsell  RHP - 2018 - Willis, TX
Texas Tech/San Jacinto CC

Birdsell is the highest level of national prospect and will be fun to watch over the next few years. The early Oklahoma commit topped out at 92 mph on the mound with a hard and tight breaking ball and showed his overall athleticism in the drills and games.

Tommy Blitchok  3B - 2018 - Grandville, MI
Uncommitted

Blitchok has a strong right handed swing that produces lots of gap power both in BP and in the games and he should continue to improve offensively. He also has a strong arm behind the plate.

Caston Peter  C - 2018 - Houston, TX
Texas

Peter looks like a nice defensive catcher, with arm strength and good quickness behind the plate that produced a 1.90 pop time. He hit very well in games, showing lots of power to the middle of the field and picking up a pair of doubles.

Marcelo Perez  RHP - 2018 - Laredo, TX
TCU

Perez has a nice balance of tools and lots of projection. He ran a 7.01 in the sixty, threw 85 mph from the outfield and has some hidden strength in his 5-10/150 frame that creates next level bat speed at the plate. He also topped out at 86 mph on the mound with a sharp 74 mph curveball.

Herndon Akridge  RHP - 2018 - Mobile, AL
Middle Georgia State University/Wallace CC-Dothan

Akridge has a young 5-11/155 build but a fluid and fast arm that produced a steady mid 80's fastball that topped out at 86 mph. He gets on top of the ball well and powers his pitches to the bottom of the strike zone consistently.

Luke Honeycutt  RHP - 2018 - Calhoun, LA
Louisiana Tech

Honeycutt has a strong and athletic 6-0/185 build and a strong right arm that produced a fastball up to 86 mph and a short and sharp slider. He also showed a good approach at the plate and impacted the ball hard.

Omar Cervantes  1B - 2018 - Laredo, TX
Grayson County College

Cervantes is a big young man at 6-0/225 and the left handed hitter can hit the ball a long way from what is really a very simple and direct hitting approach. He was also a 7.2 runner in the sixty, pretty solid for a big young athlete.

Kevin Conley  RHP - 2018 - Spring, TX
New Mexico

Conley has some growing to do at 5-10/155 but plenty of time to do it. He has a long and loose arm action that produced a fastball up to 84 mph and had a good idea how to pitch for a sophomore.

Drew Shifflet  RHP - 2018 - Nacogdoches, TX
Texas/Angelina College

Shifflet was up to 83 mph on the mound but showed just as well with the bat, as he took a nice BP and crushed a pair of doubles in the games. He's a strong young player on both sides of the ball.

Mason Donohoe  OF - 2018 - Round Rock, TX
Odessa College

Donohoe is a primary pitcher but he graded out much higher as a left handed hitter this event. The ball flew off his barrel and he showed an advanced feel for hitting for a sophomore.

Zayne Watson  OF - 2018 - The Woodlands, TX
Uncommitted

Watson has a nice combination of athletic tools in a sophomore, including 6.9 speed in the sixty and a strong outfield arm. He has bat speed at the plate and is very consistent in his approach and his ability to repeat his swing for his age.

2019 Top Prospects

Hayden Travinski  C - 2019 - Shreveport, LA
Louisiana State

Travinsky is extremely strong for a freshman at 6-1/195 but he's also athletically talented, with both present bat speed and the quickness and athleticism to post a 1.97 pop time. He's a young prospect to follow very closely.

Jon Barrera  LHP - 2019 - Corpus Christi, TX
Texas Tech

Barrera is young and projectable and has lots of present talent to build on. He topped out at 82 mph with feel for his curveball and has a nice rhythm and athleticism to his actions on the mound.

Mateo Martinez  C - 2019 - Wichita, KS
Uncommitted

Martinez is young and still needs lots of adjustments to his fundamentals, especially with the bat, but he's a very good natural athlete and already stands 6-1/175 as a freshman. He ran a 6.94, topped out at 79 mph on the mound and had some present raw bat speed at the plate.
