2015 Top Prospects

Abdel Guadalupe  OF - 2015 - Fajardo, PR
Uncommitted

Guadalupe hit one of the loudest and longest PG home runs this scout has seen in 2015 and had a couple of other at-bats where he came up just short. He attacks the ball from the right side with big bat speed and draws all eyes in the park to him when he hits.

2016 Top Prospects

Alexis Torres  SS - 2016 - Caguas, PR
Broward CC

The 2015 PG All-American is simply fun to watch play baseball, especially on defense. Torres has very advanced instincts at shortstop and moves through the ball like a big leaguer. He can light up a radar gun in drills but the ability to throw on the run accurately is more important to him.

Dariel Rivera  RHP - 2016 - Caguas, PR
Uncommitted

Rivera compares well with most of the top Puerto Rican pitchers of the last decade. He's 6-3/160 with the frame to get stronger and has a loose and whippy arm that topped out at 90 mph with big downhill angle. His delivery syncs up very well and he's just scratching the surface of his potential.

Francisco Del Valle  OF - 2016 - Santa Isabel, PR
Campbell

Del Valle has the look of a future big leaguer physically and has the tools to back it up. His left handed swing is consistent and strong with big bat speed and he'll be a positive impact defensive outfielder.

Jose Layer  OF - 2016 - San Juan, PR
Broward CC

Layer is a very quick twitch athlete who still has some strength to gain but that will all be positive. He's a graceful and athletic centerfielder with plus range and handles upper 80's fastball easily with a quick and short swing.

Raymond Burgos  LHP - 2016 - Luquillo, PR
Florida A&M

Burgos looks a bit like a left handed version of 2014 PG All-American RHP Triston McKenzie, now with the Cleveland Indians, with his 6-5/160 build. His arm is loose and fluid from a simple delivery and produced a steady upper 80's fastball and flashed a sharp breaking ball.

Kevin Rolon  SS - 2016 - Ponce, PR
Cumberland University/Cowley County CC

Rolon looks like he's a 2018 athlete, with a very slender 6-3/160 build that really projects well. He ran a 6.7 sixty and threw 88 mph across the infield and showed bat speed at times but needs time to develop all that potential.

Onix Vega  C - 2016 - Trujillo Alto, PR
New Mexico Military Institute

Vega really performed well both offensively and defensively, especially in driving the ball almost every at-bat with a short and quick right handed swing. He's a primary catcher but was athletic enough at third base to think he could be a multi-positional asset in the future.

Jose L Diana  LHP - 2016 - Santa Isabel, PR
Uncommitted

Diana has two quality pitches to build on in a fastball that reached 89 mph and a hard spinning upper 70's slider that had real bite. He'll need to learn to control a high effort delivery and improve his command as the next step

Jesse Fajardo  RHP - 2016 - Carolina, PR
Alvin CC

Fajardo showed a mature three-pitch mix with a upper 80's fastball he worked to both sides of the plate, a 72-74 mph curveball that kept getting better with use and a developing change up.

Eric Ortiz  C - 2016 - Aguadilla, PR
Uncommitted

Ortiz is a challenging but talented prospect to evaluate. The 6-4/215 switch hitter impacted the ball as hard as any hitter at the event, especially from the left side. He also is very athletic for his size. Taming his big swing and improving his defense are items on the agenda.

Raymond Salaman  OF - 2016 - Valley Canovanas, PR
Uncommitted

The 6-2/180 Salaman has big tools to develop. He ran a 6.7 sixty, threw 89 mph from the outfield and showed lots of bat speed from a pull oriented approach at the plate. He'll keep improving the more he plays.

Darnell Domenech  C - 2016 - LoĆza, PR
Uncommitted

Domenech was one of the most athletic catchers of an event that included many such athletes. His 1.82 pop time was legit, as was his quickness behind the plate. He's a switch-hitter but much more advanced right now from the right side.

Raymond Hernandez  OF - 2016 - Barceloneta, PR
Uncommitted

Hernandez' game needs some refinement but one has to look back constantly at his tools, which included a 6.5 sixty time and a strong right field arm. He had some short and strong right handed game swings that showed potential as well.

Isander Perez  RHP - 2016 - Carolina, PR
Uncommitted

Perez would make this list just on the basis of his change up, which was an outstanding pitch at times at 78 mph with hard late sink and ideal arm speed and release in relation to his fastball. That fastball worked regularly in the mid-80's, topping out at 86 mph.

Jonathan Ortiz  RHP - 2016 - Caguas, PR
Broward CC

Ortiz has a nice two-pitch mix, with a fastball that topped out at 88 mph and a 77 mph slider that was short and crisp consistently.

Christian Del Toro  RHP - 2016 - Trujillo Alto, PR
Uncommitted

Del Toro has a loose and fast arm that produced a fastball up to 88 mph that had heavy run and sink at times. He flashed good spin on a curveball that improved the harder he threw it during his outing.

Alberto J Schmidt  C - 2016 - Juana Diaz, PR
Uncommitted

Schmidt is another catcher who stands out for his quick twitch athleticism. He popped a 1.82 behind the plate with very good raw arm strength and swung the bat well.

Yadiel Fonseca  RHP - 2016 - Caguas, PR
Uncommitted

Fonseca is a bit undersized at 5-9 but he has two quality pitches he knows how to use in a fastball that reached 88 mph and his best pitch, a 76 mph slider that had bite and utility.

Ettenied Garcia  C - 2016 - Cayey, PR
Uncommitted

Garcia stood out for his quickness and particularly for getting rid of the ball at multiple positions defensively. He was down to 2.01 on the bag on his game throws. That same quickness enables him to pull the ball hard offensively.

Nathan David Torres Soto  C - 2016 - Hatillo, PR
Uncommitted

Young players tend to hesitate to pitch in Puerto Rico but this is one athlete who needs get on the mound. He showed an electric arm in drills with all the ingredients to be a high level pitching prospect.
