Michael Williams is a 2008 C/1B with a 6'1'', 197 lb. frame from Knoxville, TN who attends Farragut HS. He has a live body for a catcher with a good combination of durability/strength and quickness. Williams is a top level defensive catcher and should keep getting better and better into the next level. He's very good at moving his feet, shifting and blocking balls in the dirt. He receives the ball easily and has good hands. Williams arm is a plus and it's accurate. His best pop time was 1.85 and he's going to control running games. Offensively, Williams has the tools to hit but could be more aggressive. He has a simple no stride approach at the plate. His swing plane is level and he has strong hands. There is some hidden power here waiting to surface. His defense will carry him a long ways for now and far into the future. Williams is an outstanding student.

Michael Williams is a 2008 C with a 6'0'', 191 lb. frame from Knoxville TN, who attends Farragut HS. He has a strong build for his age, especially in the lower half, and has done a good job retaining his overall quickness and body life. Williams is a very good defensive catching prospect. He's been very well coached and has sound blocking/shifting fundamentals. He sits quietly behind the plate, presents a good target and is well balanced. Williams' arm strength is top level (81 mph) and his game pop times were consistently around 2.00-2.10. He gets rid of the ball quickly and cleanly. Offensively, Williams has an aggressive approach and good bat speed. The balance you see on his defense is not as evident on his swing. He tends to pull his head and front side off the ball, especially early in the count, although he tones things down with 2 strikes. He has a line drive swing plane and hit the ball to all fields. Becoming less rotational in his swing and using his strong hands more will help him improve offensively. Williams is a hustling, hard nosed player, which will help him continue to improve. He is also an outstanding student. Williams looks like he should be able to catch at a very high level collegiately. Williams was named to the showcase Top Prospect Team.
