Stupski is a very young freshman right handed pitcher from New York. He has good present strength for his age. Stupski threw well at the Showcase, allowing only 1 hit. He has a short, quick arm action and does a good job of keeping the ball low in the strike zone and getting some sinking action. Stupski topped out at 75 mph on his fastball and had good tight rotation on his curveball. Stupski also hit pretty well during batting practice for a 14 year old. He has some raw bat speed and a good approach at the plate.

Derek Stupski is a 2008 RHP/SS from Binghamton, New York, with a 5'9", 165 lb. frame. He has good baseball skills, and surprising strength for a 2008 player. Stupski has very quick feet with glove to hand transfers to match. His hands were good as he did jab at the ball slightly, but he has the ability to make the adjustment. Offensively, he hit out of a straight up and down stance with good balance through his swing. He has a short, compact swing that allows him to be a solid contact hitter. Stupski has some power in his swing with the wood, and he will hit as he gains experience. On the mound, is fastball topped out at 79 mph with good heavy arm side run. He has fairly sound mechanics, with good balance, but he needs to finish his pitches better, as he stands upright after releasing the ball. Stupski has a sharp 12/6 curveball with good depth to it that was 70-71 mph. Stupski is a good young player that needs to be followed.
