Erik DeJong is a 2007 IF with a 6'1'', 210 lb. frame from Sioux Falls, SD, who attends Roosevelt HS. DeJong has a large frame with some present strength. Defensively he has good arm strength with an over the top release point. DeJong has solid footwork and gets in position to make the routing plays. At the plate he is a right handed hitter with a good aggressive swing. DeJong attacks pitches with bat speed and strength, and the ball jumps of his bat. He gets leverage at the point of contact and should hit for power at the next level. For being an aggressive hitter, he tracks pitches well and doesn't chase balls out of the hitting zone. He has the chance to be a middle of the order hitter at the next level.
