Devin Shepherd is a 2006 OF from Oxnard HS in Oxnard, CA, with a 6'4", 220 lb. frame. If anything, he looks bigger and stronger than his listed weight; this kid's a man. Shepherd has really improved his running technique over the last year and has added plus speed to his other tools. He ran the 60 in 6.74 and was 4.41 down to first from the right side despite a power swing. Shepherd's arm strength is top notch. He throws 89 mph from the outfield with very good on-line carry and throws 88 off the mound, although he isn't really even a secondary pitcher. His looseness at his size is noteworthy. At the plate, Shepherd has obvious plus raw power and bat speed but is a pretty good natural hitter as well who shows the ability to stay back on balls and go the opposite way when it's called for. He hits out of a tall stance and gets out to his front side quickly. Shepherd's approach is similar to some other taller power hitters such as Dave Winfield and Joe Carter. The ball explodes off his bat like few other hitters in the country. Shepherd is a good student who has committed to Oklahoma for college but will get high level professional interest.

Devin Shepherd is a big 6'4/215 OF from Agoura Hills, CA. He is a super strong 2006, maybe as strong as any 2005 prospect in the country. He’s raw with his swing but the ball explodes off his bat when he makes solid contact. Shepherd’s arm strength is well above MLB average 91 from the OF. He runs very well for a big man with an above MLB ave 6.84 and a 4.3 H-1 time. His bat and raw power stand out. He's aggressive and flat out mashes the ball. He has upper deck power potential. One of the top 06s in America. Devin is a good student who is going to stir up lots of interest from top colleges and MLB scouts.

WP - Devin Shepherd is a 2006 OF from Oaks Christian HS in CA. At 6'4", 220, Devin already possess a Pro body. However, he also showed that he has more than just a Pro body. He ran a 6.87 which immediately caught our attention. To go along with his plus running, he showed a plus arm (91 mph) from the OF and showed plus power with the bat. Devin has some adjustability with his hands that should help him be more than just a power hitter. With those advanced tools we were not surprised to see him on base regularly in the games facing live pitchers. Devin proved why he is one of the top 2006 players in the country. He was one of the few 2006 graduates to be invited to the National Showcase at Tropicana Field and we know he has a big future in the game.

Shepherd has very raw baseball skills but he’s a superior athlete and a great looking prospect. At 6-3, 205 lbs, Shepherd has a sculpted body now just after his 16th birthday but he’s just going to get stronger and quicker. He had easily the best bat speed at the event and crushed some balls to right centerfield, where his power is right now. When Shepherd stays short with his swing and uses his hands, he’s already strong enough to top spin the ball 350 feet up the opposite field alley. Shepherd had a big league average arm from right field right now and took a turn on the mound and touched 85-86 mph with very raw mechanics. He’s also a MLB average runner underway, although a little bit of time with a running coach could make a big difference in his running gait and his overall speed. You’re not going to find a much better athlete anywhere; he’s got a chance to be an impact type of talent. Big time "06" prospect.
