Joynt is a draft prospect with a Major League body and arm to match. He is an outfielder that can pitch too. His 6 foot 3 frame holds 200 pounds easily and his defensive ability in the outfield features a strong arm that we clocked at 90 mph on radar. He is a switch hitter with some power on both sides of the plate. His power potential makes him interesting for the draft. He has Major League average bat-speed and showed a slightly better hitting package from the left side in the Midwest showcase. He had no problem putting a few over the fence and can turn on the inside fastball. On the hill he threw an 85 mph fastball that we have seen 87-88 many times. He also had a 72 mph curve and 73 mph change. He can pitch and if he ends up in College will likely get plenty of innings on the hill.

As a 6 foot 4, 205 pound right-handed pitcher, Joynt looked the part of a projectable prospect on the rise. Even more impressive was the way he swings the bat. His body resembles that of a Big Leaguer and very well proportioned to add 20 pounds and remain athletic. He showed an 84-87 mph fastball that looked easy with no tension in his arm. It is an extremely good working arm action. His breaking pitch sat in the 70-74 mph range and from his high 3/4 arm slot showed enough horizontal rotation to call it a slider. He generated a fast spin on it and a good 2 plane angle. He showed a 79 mph change-up and his delivery revealed sound body mechanics and a relaxed overall motion. He showed the same easy balanced approach with the bat and possibly more potential at the next level as a hitter. He generates plus bat-speed and quick hands. His power is a fringe Major League tool right now and he has potential for much more. We had the opportunity to watch him hit from both sides of the plate and he showed good hitting mechanics and a good swing. He has shown an average Major League outfield arm and good running ability in the past. He signed with Indian Hills CC and we think he will create a lot of draft interest in the coming months. He will be followed closely as both an outfielder and a pitcher.

Joynt was one of the best prospects at this event. MLB body, 6.8 runner, with MLB average arm and hitting ability with power potential. Plus bat speed and he looks like he has room for much more. Possible good draft if he has a good spring. Definite big time college prospect.

Brian has good body with a lot of potential. He has some arm strength but his mechanics could be better. He was gunned at 83 this fall but should throw harder by improving his mechanics. He also might be a position player, he has some power at the plate.
