Salty is one of the top catching prospects in his class. Great body and big time arm. He's a good athlete who can run a bit and play other positions. A switch hitter with power makes him all the more intriguing. He does have some holes in his swing that need to be patched up. If he makes the repairs, he should be an early pick.

Saltalamacchia has been to several Perfect Game events. We continue to see big league tools out of him. He popped 1.90 several times and is getting quicker. He showed power from both sides of the plate and hit consistently with a more balanced swing than even 1 week previous at the World showcase. His receiving skills are excellent and his arm strength is outstanding. His versatility is rare since he is playable at IF, OF and even threw 86-88

Salty is a switch hitting catcher with power from both sides, plus body and a plus arm. If his hitting ability continues to improve, he could end up with 4 plus tools and might have scouts comparing him to some of the best ever. A top prospect to follow very closely.

Saltalamacchia showed why he is the top ranked catcher in his class. He caught Scott Kazmir's nasty mid 90's stuff with ease, popped 1.8's and hit with wood power from both sides of the plate. "Salty" has a pretty complete package both at and behind the plate and he projects to keep getting better.

Saltalamacchia is an outstanding 03 catching prospect and maybe pitching prospect. It will be hard to get him away from behind the plate. He has a plus arm and popped at 1.87 at Tropicana. Also he is an outstanding hitter with power from both sides of the plate. Add a plus body that projects to get stronger and you got a top prospect for 03.

Jarrod caught only a few innings in Fort Myers, but it was enough to prove he is perhaps the top 03 catcher in the country. He has a major league body and he’s already close to major league average in arm strength. Add that he has big time power potential from the left and the right side, and you have one of the nation's top rising juniors. He also showed very well at Tropicana Field the next weekend. Update: Played on the World Champ USA youth team. Voted #1 03 in Jupiter at the World Tournament.
