Elliott Byers is a 2008 RHP with a 6'3'', 210 lb. frame from Moscow, PA who attends Scranton Prep. He has a large, broad shouldered frame and very good strength, especially in his lower half. Byers has a full windup and a tall and fall delivery with some effort on release. He lands on a stiff front leg and has some recoil on release but has a hard downhill plane to the plate on his pitches from an overhand release point. Byers' velocity seemed to have plateaued for a while but has taken a jump up this summer. He topped out at 93 mph in Cincinnati. His curveball was a plus pitch for him at times, with hard 12/6 downer bite and it was short and late in the strike zone frequently. Byers also threw a couple of change ups that were OK. His overall stuff was impressive. Byers is also a very good student.

Elliott Byers is a 2008 RHP/3B from Scranton Prep in Moscow, PA, with a 6'3'', 210 lb. frame. He has a mature body for his age and very good present strength. Byers throws from a high 3/4's release point with a compact arm action and some effort in his delivery. He has very good fastball velocity for a sophomore at 83-85 mph and we've seen him throw harder in the past. Byers has good life on his fastball. His curveball is 69 mph and has some downer break that can be tightened up. Byers also throws a 76 mph change up. He's very young and is just growing into his potential as a pitcher. Byers also has very good bat speed for a sophomore because of his strength. He hits from a spread stance with very low hands in his set up and a pronouced upper cut swing. He's going to wander into some pitches and hit them a long way, although his hitting approach won't maximize his contact ratio's. Byers plays third base when not pitching and has the arm strength for that position but his future is on the mound. He's a very good follow who could be big time power pitcher. He is also a very good student.

Byers is a freshman right handed pitching prospect from Pennsylvania with a very advanced and athletic body for a 14 year old. He also shows prospect tools as a position player. At 6-2, 180 lbs, with broad shoulders and some present strength, Byers projects off the charts. On the mound, Byers is raw mechanically but generates very good arm speed from a high ¾’s to overhand release point. He topped out at 83 mph on his fastball and maintained his velocity and command well over 4 perfect innings (7 K’s). Byers had a higher release point on his curveball and a slightly stiffer arm action, almost like he’s been told to get over the ball by a well meaning coach. He gets good spin and depth on this pitch at 63-64 mph but will have to refine his mechanics on it in the future. Byers also showed a 75 mph change up. Byers is a 7.03 runner in the 60, which is very impressive for his age and size. He doesn’t have quick, light feet though in the infield and may project better as a right fielder. Offensively, Byers has raw hitting mechanics, with a reverse toe tap trigger and poor balance that often leave him lunging for the ball. But Byers generates very good bat speed and the ball really jumps off his bat when his swing comes together. A few years of hard work and some good coaching adjustments could make Byers into an impact hitter. Keep a close and patient eye on this young prospect!
