Charles Ghysels is a 2008 RHP/IF with a 5'11'', 190 lb. frame from Springboro OH, who attends Springboro HS. He has a strong, mature build with thick hips and shoulders. Ghysels throws with a simple turn and throw delivery and has some effort on his high 3/4's release. His arm is very quick. Ghysels' fastball was steady at 87-88 mph and touched 90. He has a harder front side on his fastball than on his breaking pitches and as a result left the fastball up in the strike zone with some regularity. Ghysels curveball is a major weapon at times, with knee buckling bite and good depth at 76 mph. He wasn't consistent with it but the pitch has definite plus potential. Ghysel's change up also had good quality, with nice running/boring action and consistent command. It's hard to project Ghysel's raw stuff but he has the present stuff to be very successful and a few simple adjustments could really take him to the next level. He seemed to have a hard nosed make up as well. Ghysels also uses his strength well with the bat. He has bat speed and projectable power and hit the ball hard to all fields. He stays balanced in his swing and has very sound hitting mechanics. Ghysels is a very good follow.
