Forrest Moore is a 2007 left hand pitcher from Parkview Baptist HS, residing in Baton Rouge, LA. Moore has a good pitcher's body with a strong and athletically proportioned 6'2" 190 lb. frame. One of the top lefties in this high school draft class, Moore ranked #18 among the PG National Top 85 pitchers. Some have made the mistake of calling him simply a feel lefty and there are times when it appears that is his strength. However, he can run his fastball up to 88 mph and has shown slightly above that before. He pitches from an over the top slot shallow backside arm action and good leveraged arm stroke. His delivery is sort of quick but fluid and generally on time. A good athlete, Moore repeats his delivery well and has excellent body control, which is part of the reason he is also a plus fielder of his position. He pounds the bottom of the zone with his mid-upper 80s fastball and has some movement on the arm side. Moore's curveball is a big breaker with 12/6ish shape and pretty good rolling action. He primarily uses his fastball to get outs, meaning that he is effective against both left and right hand hitters. Moore is a premium D1 caliber arm and even if he doesn't get a velocity spike this spring, he will still get strong draft consideration... though a bump up of 2-3 will really make him a hot commodity.

Forrest Moore is a promising '07 LHP/1B from Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a nice, projectable pitcher's body. He shows nice defensive skills with a soft glove that picks well and good feet around the bag. At the plate he hits with a medium base and closed stance into a short stride and slight weight transfer. His swing has medium length with good bat speed. His swing plane has lift in it with a high extended finish. He is a contact type hitter that uses all fields with flashes of gap power. On the mound he shows a lot of promise with a fast, loose arm from a H3/4 slot. He shows normal effort and good control with sound mechanics. He uses a tall & fall pitching style with a linear finish. Nice mound presence with poise and confidence. FB is 78-82mph with nice 2-seam run. CB is 65-66mph with 1-7 break, tight rotation, good depth, good shapness, and good deception. CB is a very good pitch and he locates it well. Didn't show CH. His pitching skills are advanced for his age. Pro prospect and close follow for a couple of years.

Forrest Moore is a 2007 left hander from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and one of the most projectable pitchers from the Underclass Showcase. Moore’s father was a professional football player (punter), and Moore has good overall athleticism and plenty of looseness. He throws from a very high ¾ release point with good plane to the plate on a fastball that touched 82-83 mph. We’ve seen him faster in WWBA events since Waco. Moore’s curveball is a big breaker in the mid-60’s that should be able to be tightened up as he gets older and more experienced. It’s not hard at all to imagine him adding a couple of mph’s a year at least over his remaining three years of high school and ending up as a 90 mph guy. Moore shows some promise with the bat as well. He has a smooth swing the ball comes off his bat well. A little better hand position and some rhythm to his swing could make him an impressive power hitter when he’s stronger.
