Luis Montesinos is a 2009 2B/SS with a 5'10'', 176 lb. frame from Palmetto Bay, FL who attends Miami Palmetto HS. He has an athletic build and good present strength, especially in his lower half. Montesinos looks like an infielder and plays like one. His strong lower half gives him good balance and strength and he does a good job smoothly moving to balls and making plays. Montesinos has good arm strength and can play both short and second. He's a 7.14 runner. Offensively, Montesinos has a simple balanced stance and has nice strength in his swing. He has good bat speed and makes solid line drive contact. He's a little long to the ball initially from a bat wrap load but his hands are quick and short to the ball. Montesinos showed his speed and quickness on the bases and was aggressive. He's a good all around player with a nice balance of offensive and defensive skills. Montesinos is also a good student.
