Freddie Freeman is a 2007 left hand hitting 1st baseman/outfielder from El Modena HS, residing in Villa Park, CA. Freeman has a long, strong, lean build on a well-proportioned 6'4" 200 lb. frame that will continue to fill out. He has long arms and legs that will continue to get stronger as he physically matures. Freeman is one of the top pure hitters in the '07 high school class and was ranked #7 among PG National Top 100 position players. When he is swinging the bat well, he is a fun to watch hit as anyone in this class. Freeman has plus plus hands for hitting. The one thing that he loves to do on the field is to get in that batters box and hit. He gets behind the ball at contact and squares up consistently on time, further adding power to the what his produced by his bat speed and strength. Freeman routinely makes plus barrel contact and produces easy easy power. The ball makes a different sound off his bat than with most players. He has plus power to all fields and at times his power is just explosive. Freeman is not only a power hitter, but a high average hitter as well. He has a short stroke and is much stronger than he looks. He is the type of hitter that can miss the barrel and is still plenty strong enough to not just get the ball over or through the infield, but he can still get into the gaps when he doesn't square up the barrel. To watch him on one of his better days makes a scout imagine 40 dingers in the Big Leagues. One of Freeman's attributes that serves him so well as a hitter is that he has a short memory. When he makes an out or doesn't get a pitch as well as he felt he could, he simply looks forward to his next at-bat. If he ran better Freeman would project well as a right fielder. He has a plus arm and can throw accurately. However, he is a below average runner and likely will stay at first base in pro ball. His hands and footwork are good there and he plays the position well. Freeman ran a 7.80 60 yard time. He is an upper round professional prospect and has verbally committed to Cal State Fullerton. With an average (for him) spring he will go well in the draft and with a big spring, he is a first round candidate.

Freddie Freeman is a 2007 1B/RHP from El Modena HS, residing in Villa Park, CA, with a 6'4" 203 lb. frame. Freeman was named to the top prospect team at the California Underclass Showcase, was written up in the Top Prospect list, and was invited to the National Showcase. He has a long and strong build with wide shoulders that suggest lots of room for Freeman to pack on muscle as he matures. A left handed hitter, Freeman hits with a wide stance and starts slightly open. His swing explodes to and through the ball. Though it is an explosive swing, it is also an aesthetically pleasing swing. Freeman simply drives the baseball with authority on a consistent basis. He stays behind the ball and consistently is squared up at contact while maintaining balance. The ball spins off his bat and has that extra carry that provides him with even more power than his considerable bat speed and strength already do. Freeman is short to the ball and has excellent hands to go with plus bat speed. His present day power is excellent and rates with the top prospects in the nation, yet there is still more power for him to gain. Freeman is not only a power prospect, but he will hit for high average. On defense Freeman has decent hands and a plus arm. He has decent body control and can move around bag, however that arm seems to be a bit wasted at 1st base. Though he is not a good runner, Freeman may be relegated to 1B, regardless of his arm. On the mound Freeman pitches from an over the top slot and has that quick arm. He is aggressive with his arm and there is a lot of effort in his delivery. Freeman touches up to 91 with the FB. His breaking ball has good spin, though not much command of that pitch. In general Freeman is a thrower on the mound and his temperment does not seem to fit that position. He is simply a premium hitting prospect, a top tier D1 prospect, and an upper round draft talent.

Freddie is a 2007 grad from El Modena High School in Southern California. He stands 6'4" 200 lbs with an incredible athletic frame for someone who just turned 15 years old. At the plate, Freddie has a good left handed swing, fluid and easy with some leverage and present raw power. When he gets really strong in a few years and works on his swing mechanics and balance, Freddie could have scarry middle of the line up "pro" power. Defensively, Freddie projects as a first baseman at the upper levels. As a pitcher, he has a very aggressive delivery, good arm speed and a loose, easy release out front. Freddie's attitude on the mound appears to be "give me the ball and let me throw it hard,", which we like to see in a young pitcher. And Freddie can throw it hard, topping out at 88 mph on his fastball. He also throws a 66-68 mph curveball that he frequently gets under and will need more work. Overall, Freddie is an immensely talented big player whose talents go both ways on the baseball field. He has lots of time to athletically mature and polish his game but his raw tools put him among the elite 2007 prospects in the country.

Freddie is a 2007 grad from El Modena, California and is big boned with a broad strong body that has room to add even more strength. Freddie really hit well at this event. He has a nice, easy left handed swing that combines fluidity with good raw power. The ball jumps off his bat now and when he gets stronger, he's going to really separate himself with the bat. Defensively, Freddie has the hand softness and arm strength to play third base at the next level but his future size and his relative quickness may make him better suited for first base. On the mound, Freddie has an aggressive delivery with hard boring and late sinking action on his fastball at times from a low 3/4's arm slot. He throws a 67 mph curveball now but his release point and delivery is much better suited to a slider in the future. Freddie is a no fear type of pitcher who really goes after hitters aggressively. Overall, this is a young man who is a legit 2-way prospect who will be on every one's scouting and recruiting lists.
