Kyle Mettling is a 2008 LHP/OF/1B with a 5'11'', 170 lb. frame from Encinatas, California, who attends Canyon Crest Academy High School. On the mound he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a solid arm action. He is a crafty lefty who throws with little effort, and he hides the ball. Mettling throws a 65 mph curve ball with bite, and he also throws a 65 mph change-up. He throws all his pitches for strikes, and he shows pitchability. Mettling works fast and he has upside on the mound. Defensively he moves well in the outfield getting good reads off the bat and getting nice jumps. He covers ground showing instincts. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who hits from a narrow base, and he has a line drive swing plane.
